You have ordered something on Amazon and are looking forward to the arrival of your package. Weeks go by and your order on Amazon has not been received. What do you do?
Amazon has an excellent track record of delivering orders to customers in record time. But problems always happen. And when they do, you need to know how to fix the problem quickly.
Fortunately, Amazon offers many resources to help with this situation.
Find Amazon Order Status
If you’ve ordered something on Amazon but haven’t received it yet, it can be unnerving. Have you spent your hard-earned money on something online and the last thing you want is not to get what you bought?
If you are concerned about the status of your order, you can always see what is happening with the delivery by logging into your Amazon account and choosing “Returns and Orders” from the menu.
In this section, under the “Orders” link, you will see all your orders sorted by the date they were placed.
Every order shows a status. If the item has already been delivered, the delivery date will be displayed. Below the delivery date, you will also see a note about where the item was delivered.
If it was delivered to your door or to your mailbox, it will be reported in this status.
If the delivery status of your Amazon order has not been received, you can select Package Tracking for more information.
On the details page, you will see the shipping address and, more importantly, the tracking ID with the shipping service that was used to track the package.
You can use this tracking ID on the USPS or UPS website (whichever was used) to get more shipping information.
The tracking information on the UPS or USPS website details any shipping issues.
If you select the View All Updates link below the shipping address, you will see a more detailed timeline for the delivery of this package.
Often, if the initial delivery attempt fails, this detailed list of delivery updates will indicate the date the problem occurred and a brief reason for the failure.
Again, you can get more details using the tracking ID on the postal website.
Amazon order has not shipped
If your Amazon order has been in processing for a long time and has not been delivered, there could be several reasons.
Third Party Seller Delivery Time
One of the most common reasons it may take longer than usual to ship is if you’ve purchased an item that isn’t delivered by Amazon.
If a third party seller (Amazon Marketplace seller) completes an order, delivery times may increase.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the estimated arrival date is shown just below the price when you place your order.
If the delivery date is outside the estimated date, you can select “Contact Seller” on the order details page to check the status of your shipment.
If the order qualifies for Amazon Prime (again, this should be listed on the order page), you can contact Amazon Customer Service to find out why your Amazon order has not yet been received.
Amazon Prioritizes Specific Elements
During the National Crisis, when Amazon shipping services are down, you may notice that your orders remain in Pending status for longer than expected.
This was the case during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, when Amazon experienced a sharp increase in online orders. During this period, Amazon prioritized commodities such as household items, medical supplies, and other essential items.
This has led to increased delivery times for other products.
Natural events preventing delivery
Another issue that could affect Amazon’s supply is the regional crisis. For example, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, and ice storms can affect the ability of delivery services to get packages to your doorstep.
Amazon recommends counting a 2-3 business day increase if you live in an area where such service delays are expected. You should see this new delivery date on your order status page, if so. If not, please contact Amazon Customer Service for confirmation.
Amazon order delivered but not received
If your Amazon order status says “Delivered†but you haven’t received your package, there could be a number of legitimate reasons. Items may be returned back to Amazon as non-shipping under the following circumstances.
- Small P.O. Box: Your delivery address is P.O. the box is too small for the package.
- Invalid address: if the delivery address is missing important information such as apartment number.
- Previous Address: You have mistakenly selected your old address as your shipping address.
- Unsafe place: Your home or apartment is not a safe place to leave your package, whether it is a weather threat or a hidden place where it is easy to steal the package.
- No Access: If the delivery requires passage through a buzzer or security gate and the delivery driver cannot access your apartment or home for delivery.
- Penitentiary: Penitentiary restrictions prevent delivery completed.
- Unsuccessful delivery attempts. Packages over $ 1,300 require a signature, and after three unsuccessful attempts, the delivery driver was unable to obtain it.
- Shipping Issues: Sorting issues or label damage may result in delivery failure.
- The recipient refused: if someone at the address s did not expect the package and refused delivery.
Any of these situations could result in a delivery failure. In such cases, the package will be delivered to Amazon and you will be refunded.
You usually see one of the above statuses on the order status page and you need to wait for the package to return to the Amazon store to receive your refund.
Actions to take with Amazon or the seller
What if your order on Amazon has not been received? You were unlucky. There are several steps you can take to find out where your package is.
Click the seller link and ask a question
On the order status page, you can see a link to the seller’s page next to “Sold out” under the product title.
On the seller’s page, you will see several options. You can select Ask a Question and ask a question about your product directly to the seller.
You can also select Returns & Refunds, Shipping, Policy, or Help for more information on shipping, refunds and returns. You can also find additional customer service links where you can contact the seller.
Cancel or change delivery speed
If you don’t want to go all the trouble at all, just go back to the order status page and select “Cancel Items†to cancel it.
This is only possible if the order status does not yet show “Delivered”.
You can also change the shipping speed to get the item earlier. However, this will only work if the status does not display Delivered, and if the product has not yet been delivered by the seller. This usually happens if the status is still pending.
Why is it safer to purchase Fulfilled by Amazon?
One of the best ways to protect yourself is to try to buy items on Amazon, where shipping is “done by Amazon.”
On the third party seller page, you will see this under the Shipping tab. The information provided herein must state that “This item is made by Amazon.com.”
What does it mean?
When an item is shipped by Amazon, it means that third-party sellers store their items at Amazon fulfillment centers. Amazon staff is responsible for packaging and delivering the goods to you.
This also means that Amazon guarantees that the shipment will be delivered on the date shown on the order page. This also means that Amazon Prime customers can get free shipping.
How do you know if an item on Amazon is satisfied with a purchase? You will see this in the “Add to Cart” section. This shows who the seller is and whether Amazon is going to ship.
If you see this status, then all Amazon shipping and protection guarantees apply to your order.
Warranties and Protections from Amazon
When Amazon completes an order, you get two protections. Guarantee from A to Z and guaranteed delivery.
Warranty from A to Z
This guarantee means that you will receive the products on the date indicated on the order page. This also ensures that the item is in good condition at the time you receive it.
If not, you can report the issue to Amazon and receive a refund. Amazon will provide a refund under this warranty in the following cases:
- You have not received your package within three days of the maximum estimated delivery date.
- Your order status shows delivered but your Amazon order has not been received.
- You received an item that was not what you ordered and requested a refund via the order status page.
- You returned an item, but the seller did not send you a refund.
Under this warranty, you have 90 days after the maximum estimated delivery date to request a refund.
You will see the estimated delivery date when you finish purchasing an item or items from your cart.
This means that as long as the item has been fulfilled by Amazon, you can always be sure that you will be protected.
Note. This warranty does not apply to digital products, so take extra care and buy electronics directly from Amazon.
Guaranteed delivery
Amazon’s Guaranteed Delivery means your shipping fees may be refunded if Amazon delivers the item after the maximum estimated delivery date.
There are several conditions for refunding shipping charges.
- The shipping method you selected matches the shipping option shown on the product page.
- You have entered an acceptable, valid address.
- You placed your order before the “order within†countdown on the checkout page ended.
- Confirmed Delivery Date is on your Amazon confirmation email after you ordered.
Please be aware that if Amazon missed delivery due to a natural disaster or other event beyond Amazon’s control, there will be no refund of guaranteed shipping fees.
To receive a refund, visit the Amazon contact page and click Start Chat. Indicate that you would like to apply for a shipping guarantee or an A to Z warranty refund, whichever applies.
