More than two billion people use Facebook to connect with their loved ones, friends and colleagues, share the details of their lives through photos and videos, broadcast live, find great deals and even do business on it.
With all of this data uploaded to the platform, Facebook has taken steps to protect it by tightening security measures and enforcing regulations more stringently than ever before. Unfortunately, this resulted in some users being locked out of their Facebook accounts and they didn’t know how to unblock them to continue using or accessing the service.
However, most people don’t know that Facebook can disable or block your account at any time, restrict your activity even when you’re signed in, or deny you access to your account altogether.
Why are you being banned from entering your Facebook account? Locked
There are several reasons why you are banned from your Facebook account, which can be difficult and frustrating to cancel. These reasons can be categorized as user or system errors, non-compliance with the Terms of Use and Community Standards, site maintenance or security, and include any of the following:
- You are logged in to multiple devices, signaled by Facebook that your account may have been hacked.
- Facebook may think you have violated one or more of its policies.
- You may have received a phishing email that directed you to a fake Facebook website and you are logged in. When this happens, a cybercriminal can use your credentials to access your Facebook account, and Facebook has detected and flagged this activity.
- Someone reported this. your account was fake and was requested to be removed, reported your content as offensive, or flagged it as spam. Facebook will automatically flag your account in such cases when investigating the alleged content or account.
- Violating the terms of use and community standards by using a false name, posting content that violates these terms, impersonating someone, or continually violating platform rules.
- Your account is a security risk that can range from general suspicious activity to advertisements, illegal content, harassment of other users, unwanted contacts, inappropriate or spam advertisements, etc.
- There are too many groups joining. Facebook limits users to 200 groups, and if you go beyond that, your account may be blocked or disabled.
- If you have posted too many messages on someone’s wall or in a group, it may be considered spam, especially if posted within a very short period of time.
- If you are a minor and not part of a high school group.
- You have sent too many friend requests to others outside the group, the maximum limit is 5000, although this is rare.
- In some cases, malware that prompts you to scan your computer can signal Facebook that your account has been hacked or that there is suspicious activity. Check out our guide for nine tips for more privacy on Facebook.
How to access a locked Facebook account
If you are sure that your Facebook account does not contain all of the above reasons, and you believe that it was blocked or disabled by mistake, please contact them directly to resolve your concerns.
You can also complete and submit an online form and Facebook will investigate the issue. However, Facebook does not guarantee that you will receive a quick response within a certain amount of time, so you may need to wait for a response from them, which can take several weeks.

If you have been blocked from your Facebook account because you forgot the email address or password you used to create your account, you can recover or reset your account if you have some information, such as an email address or number phone.
If you prefer to reset your account settings, you will need to answer the security question you chose when you created your account, and this will prove to Facebook that you are who you say you are.
Alternatively, you can select a Facebook friend you trust, give them the assigned URL and get a security code. Enter this code and after completing any of these security checks, your account will still be visible, but you will have to wait at least 24 hours before trying to access it again.
