I recently discovered something interesting in Google Maps that I never knew existed. A few weeks ago I was looking for a local restaurant that a friend told me about, and now that I had some free time to go there, I couldn’t remember the name of the place! Since I didn’t google it, it didn’t show up in my google web search history, which I checked in the first place.
So, I went to Google Maps and tried to figure out how to view the search history on my map. There was nothing obvious on the main Google Maps home page, so I clicked on it for about 10 minutes until I found it. In this article, I’ll quickly show you how to view your Google Maps search history, which can be handy for seeing what routes you’ve searched for and what places you’ve looked for.
First go to Google Maps and click the “My Places” button. Make sure you are signed in to your Google account.
This will download all the custom maps you created as well as the entire search history of your maps. It is so simple! It’s not very difficult to get to it, but I definitely didn’t notice it before. It would be nice if they saved their search history under a different title, as My Places is more like a place to search for my custom maps, not my search history.
Just tap on any of the story items and it will show routes or location on a map.
So this is our simple tip of the day. Of course, for your story to be displayed at all, you must be logged into your Google account when using Google Maps. Otherwise, you won’t see any previous search history. Enjoy!
