Update: Instagram photos should no longer be square
The pictures taken by the camera are in portrait or landscape mode. But on Instagram, you can only upload square photos. Likewise, your WhatsApp profile picture should be square.
If the image is not square, you must crop the download. Thus, we found a compromise with background details. Even resizing it to a square resolution makes it strange.
The only workaround is to apply padding around the image. How? There are special applications and online services for this. So let’s check them out.
Android
There are many square image generating apps for Android. I prefer #SquareDroid. The app is simple and gets the job done. Alternatively, you can quickly open the app using the Share option on your photo.
Window
If you have Windows Phone use 6tag. It’s free and works well enough. Although I don’t have a Windows Phone and have never personally tested this app. But people I know have been using these apps for a long time and have never complained. The rating of his store is very good.
iOS
Squaregram is the best option for iOS users. It’s free and does its job just fine. Again, I don’t have an iOS device either, so I was unable to test this app myself. However, the app has received good reviews and has been featured on many sites.
Blackberry and Nokia
Unfortunately, there is no app available for you. There used to be an online tool for creating square images. But it is no longer available. So the only option is to use Photoshop or other image editors.
Computer
If you use Instagram on computer, you can download apk #SquareDroid on ARC welder – Chrome extension to run Android applications on computer. I tried it on my Windows and MAC machine and it worked great.
If you are using gramblr to download images, then this is an online tool for you.
