Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player Has Stopped Working

Posted on October 6, 2020 By blog_786 No Comments on Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player Has Stopped Working

When updating to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on my Windows computer, Flash Player occasionally crashes, especially when I use a web browser.

Each time a crash occurs, an error message stating “Adobe Flash Player has stopped working” appears. It’s pretty frustrating, but troubleshooting isn’t that hard.

Clicking the “Find a solution online and close the program” button did not fix the Adobe Flash Player error code.

To resolve the Adobe Flash Player Stopped Error, there are a few basic steps you can take to resolve the issue in most cases.

Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player Has Stopped Working

1. Restart Windows

A simple restart of Windows seems to often help fix basic error messages. Resetting Windows clears your computer’s RAM and restarts many basic services, programs, and applications.

Every time an error message appears on the screen for any program, the first thing you can do to fix the problem is to restart your computer.

2. Modify Flash Player settings and permissions.

On Windows, you can edit Adobe Flash Player settings from a web browser using the Flash Player help website.

Using the Settings Manager located on the left side of your screen, start checking your Flash Player settings for Global, Websites, Secured, etc. to make changes.

Try turning on / off some settings. In the Protected Content Playback Settings panel, try resetting the license files. You can also try deleting all sites in the website storage settings panel.

3. Reinstall Adobe Flash Player

Reinstalling Flash Player will usually fix random error messages. This worked with an Adobe Flash Player error that kept popping up on my computer.

You can uninstall Flash Player from the Windows Uninstaller panel, which is located in Start> Control Panel> Uninstall a Program.

However, Adobe recommends uninstalling Flash Player using a dedicated uninstaller that you can download. The Uninstall Flash Player for Windows website has a link to an uninstaller and some additional steps to completely uninstall software on Windows.

After you have completely uninstalled Adobe Flash Player, the next step is to check for new Windows updates available. If Windows does find updates, install them before reinstalling Flash Player.

To reinstall the software, go to the Adobe downloads page and download the latest version. Reinstall Flash Player on your computer.

The aforementioned Adobe Flash Player has stopped working. We hope that the troubleshooting steps help you get Flash Player up and running smoothly on your Windows PC. If Flash Player is still not working correctly, you can also try running a full virus scan on your computer. If you have malware or a virus on your computer, it can prevent programs such as Flash Player from working properly.

The above steps should fix Adobe Flash Player errors in most cases, but if Flash Player still throws errors on your computer, you can leave a comment and I will try to help. Enjoy!
