Top 5 Methods To Fix an iPad Stuck on Apple Logo.
The iPad is incredible technology. When it works, it works like a laptop, tablet, and even a game machine. Unfortunately, there are times when the iPad won’t load correctly and gets stuck on the Apple logo. Here’s how to fix this problem.
Most of the time, iPad gets stuck on the Apple logo screen due to the boot process. This could be caused by third party apps or even faulty security software. The good news is that there is usually a fix. The instructions in this article are for the last two generations of iPad.
Make Sure It’s Not a Software Update
Is your iPad frozen or is it temporary? If your iPad displays a progress bar under the Apple logo, it means something is being installed, most likely an operating system update.
If the iPad doesn’t go beyond the Apple logo and you see a progress bar, give it time to complete. Once the update is complete, iPad will either reboot or continue working. If it doesn’t, try the next step.
Perform a Hard Reset
The first step to fix any iPad issue is to try a hard reset. There are several ways to do this.
If your iPad doesn’t have a Home button like the iPad Pro, perform a hard reset by pressing the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then pressing and holding the power button until the device restarts.
If your iPad has a Home button, press and hold the Home and Top (or Side) buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
Clean the Lightning Port
If your iPad gets stuck at the Apple logo when connected to a computer, it might be due to an unexpected cause: a lightning port. If lint, debris, or other material lurks inside the Lightning port and blocks the cable’s secure connection, the iPad might not get past the Apple logo.
It can also interfere with charging your iPad. You have several options for how to fix this. First, take something like a clean, soft-bristled toothbrush and scrub the inside of the Lightning port, but sometimes this can force the material deeper into the port.
Another option is to buy a cheap cleaning kit on Amazon. These kits are easy to use (and are basically identical to what anyone in the Apple Store would use to clean up a port). Simply scrape off the material and keep the Lightning port clean.
Perform a System Update in Recovery Mode
If your iPad still has the Apple logo, you may need to perform a manual update by putting your device into recovery mode. The first step towards this is to understand how to put iPad into recovery mode.
First, make sure your Mac is fully up to date. If you’re not using a Mac, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
Then open Finder or iTunes. If you already had iTunes open, close it and reopen it.
Finally, connect your iPad to your computer and put it into recovery mode. If your iPad doesn’t have a Home button, press and release the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then press and hold the top button until iPad enters recovery mode.
If your iPad has a Home button, press and hold the Home button and the side or top buttons at the same time until iPad enters recovery mode.
Once you’ve done that, find your iPad in Finder or iTunes. When you select it, you will be prompted to update or restore. Select Refresh. This will allow your computer to download the latest updates for your device and install them, most likely without deleting your data (we say “most likely” because there is always a risk).
When this process is complete, disconnect your iPad and try starting it.
Place Your iPad in DFU Mode
If the steps above did not help, you can try DFU mode. This is the most in-depth troubleshooting feature available on an iPad. Here’s how to set it up.
Connect iPad to your computer and open Finder or iTunes as if you had activated recovery mode. Press the Home button and the Power button at the same time until the screen turns black.
Wait three seconds after the screen turns black and release the power button, but continue to hold the Home button until your iPad appears in Finder or iTunes.
If the screen isn’t completely black, or you can’t find your device in iTunes or Finder, then the process didn’t work. The good news is that you can restart the process immediately if it didn’t work right away.
If you have an iPad without a Home button, the process is slightly different. Turn off your iPad and connect it to your computer, then open iTunes or Finder.
Then press and hold the power button. Wait a couple of seconds and then press the volume down button without releasing the power button. Hold both of them for ten seconds to enter DFU mode.
When the iPad enters DFU mode, a pop-up window appears on your computer warning you that the iPad has been detected in DFU mode. Click OK and navigate through the screens until you get the Repair and Update option.
The process will delete everything on your iPad and automatically download the latest iOS to your iPad. After that, it will try to restore all erased data back to the device.
However, you should manually back up your iPad before following this step. There is a risk that you will lose all your data.
These steps can help you fix any issues that are causing your iPad to get stuck on the Apple logo. If none of these work, then you should consider getting a professional for an assessment and repair. If you’ve done your best and nothing works, let Apple do it.
