1. Exit or Force-Quit the Camera App
If the Flashlight option is grayed out in iPad Pro Control Center, the most likely cause is an active Camera app. By design, iPadOS prevents you from turning on the flashlight when using the Camera app so you can reserve the LED for photo flashes. So, exit the Camera app and open Control Center again.
If the flashlight switch is still grayed out, you need to force close the Camera app. To do this, open the app switcher (swipe up from the bottom of the screen) and swipe up on the camera map to close the app. In addition, we recommend that you force close other applications that use the camera.
2. Add Flashlight to Control Center
If the flashlight control is missing from iPad Pro Control Center, you (or someone else with access to your tablet) may have accidentally deleted it.
To return the flashlight switch, open the Settings app and select Control Center from the sidebar. Then scroll down to the More Controls section and click Add next to Flashlight. You can then reposition it in the Control Center by dragging the control up or down the list.
3. Adjust Haptic Touch Duration
If activating the flashlight using the iPad Pro’s lock screen seems unsuccessful or unsuccessful, increasing tactile sensitivity can help.
To do this, open the Settings app and choose Accessibility> Touch> Tactile Touch. Then switch the sensitivity from slow to fast.
4. Adjust Flashlight Brightness
If your iPad Pro’s flashlight seems dim, you can always try adjusting the intensity. To do this, open Control Center and press and hold or tap the 3D Flashlight Control Button. Then click and drag the slider up to increase the brightness.
5. Restart Your iPad Pro
If the flashlight continues to malfunction, you need to restart iPad Pro. This is the best way to fix any software related issues preventing features from working properly.
On any iPad Pro model, open the Settings app and tap General> Turn Off. Then drag the slider to the right to turn off the device. Wait 30 seconds before holding the top button to restart it.
6. Force-Restart Your iPad Pro
Force restarting iPad Pro is another way to get your broken flashlight back to normal.
Quickly press and release the volume up and down buttons one after the other. Then press and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Let’s say you’re using an iPad Pro with Touch ID, press and hold the Top and Home buttons at the same time. Release as soon as you see the Apple logo.
7. Update Your iPad Pro
A defective flashlight could simply be the result of a malfunctioning system software. For example, running an outdated or early release of a major version of iPadOS (such as iPadOS 15.0.0) often creates a lot of problems.
To install the latest iOS updates, open the Settings app and choose General> Software Update. Then click Download and Install.
8. Restore the iPad Pro’s Settings
The iPad Pro contains many internal settings that create conflicts and prevent various features such as the flashlight from working properly. Apple knows this, which is why iPadOS has an option to reset all settings to their defaults. You will not lose data on your device, but after that you will have to reconnect to Wi-Fi manually.
To reset iPad Pro, open the Settings app and choose General> Transfer or Reset iPad> Reset. Then tap Reset All Settings> Reset.
9. Factory Reset Your iPad Pro
If the flashlight on your iPhone continues to cause problems, resetting your iPhone to factory settings might help fix the problem.
Since you will lose all data on your device, you should start by backing up your iPhone to iCloud or computer. Then open the Settings app and choose General> Transfer or Reset iPad> Erase All Content and Settings to reset your iPhone. You can recover data after the reset procedure.

No Luck? Take It to Apple
If iPad Pro flashlight issues continue, then you are most likely dealing with a hardware issue. Then the best option is to take the device to the nearest Apple Store. If you are ready, you can try reinstalling iPad firmware in DFU mode before doing this.
