First of all, make sure you activate Siri in the correct way. Press and hold the Siri button (with a microphone icon) on your Apple TV Remote (or Siri Remote), ask Siri to take an action, and release the Siri button. Pressing the Siri button once or repeatedly will not activate Siri.
Try the following troubleshooting steps if Siri is not working or responding to voice commands when you press and hold the Siri button.
1. Enable Siri
First things first: make sure Siri is turned on on your device. By default, virtual assistant isn’t turned on on Apple TV. You need to manually activate Siri when setting up your Apple TV or in the tvOS settings menu.
Open the Settings app and select General.
Turn on Siri.
Turn Siri off and back on again if the virtual assistant doesn’t work despite being activated. If Siri is grayed out, it means your Apple ID or iTunes account is in an unsupported country. Then go to Method # 5 to find out how to restore Siri on Apple TV.
2. Change Apple TV Language and Region
Siri may not respond to voice commands if your spoken language does not match the language in Siri settings. Go to your tvOS settings and set Siri to recognize the language you speak.
Open the Apple TV Settings app and select General.
Scroll to the Siri section and select Language.
Scroll through the list and choose your preferred Apple TV language. It will also be used as the Siri language.
On the page you will find several options for the English language. Choose an option that you speak fluently or one that is commonly spoken in your area.

3. Enable Dictation
Siri Dictation lets you dictate text in search boxes and text input fields using your voice. It is much faster than entering text using the on-screen keyboard. If Siri dictation doesn’t work when you hold down the microphone button on your Apple TV Remote, turn on system-wide dictation in keyboard preferences.
Open the Settings app and select General.
Scroll to the Keyboard & Dictation section and set Dictation to On.
4. Charge Your Remote
Your Siri Remote can be damaged if the battery is low or low. Check the battery level of the remote control and make sure it is at least 50% charged.
Go to Settings> Remotes and Devices> Remote and check the Battery Level line.
Charge your Apple TV Siri Remote for at least 30 minutes using an Apple-certified Lightning cable and power adapter. One more thing: make sure there is no interference between Apple TV and Siri Remote. Remove items, electronics, and appliances that are blocking Apple TV and Siri Remote.
5. Change Your Apple ID Region
Siri on Apple TV isn’t supported in all countries and regions. Virtual Assistant is currently only available on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K with an Apple ID or iTunes account in the following countries:
Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK and USA.
You won’t be able to activate or use Siri on Apple TV if your account region is outside of those countries.
Note. You must cancel all active Apple subscriptions before you can switch your Apple ID to a different region. Check out other factors to consider before changing your Apple ID country.

If you have a laptop or Mac desktop, you can change the country for your Apple ID in the App Store.
Open the App Store and select your account name in the lower left corner.
Select “View Information”.
Enter your Apple ID credentials in the appropriate fields and select Sign In.
Scroll down to Country / Region and select Change Country or Region.
6. Restart Your Apple TV
The problem with Siri not working may be due to a temporary system malfunction. Restarting your Apple TV will update the operating system and hopefully get Siri working again. After changing your Apple ID country, it is also recommended that you restart your device.
Go to Settings> System and select Restart.
Note. If you have a first-generation Siri Remote, press and hold the Menu and TV buttons at the same time until the Apple TV status light blinks rapidly. If you have a second generation Siri Remote, press and hold the Back and TV buttons. Release both buttons when the status light on your Apple TV starts blinking rapidly.
Better yet, unplug your Apple TV, wait 6-10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
7. Update Your Apple TV
Installing the latest tvOS updates on Apple TV will add new features and fix performance issues. For example, tvOS 15 has added new languages for Siri in Hong Kong, Italy, India, and Taiwan. Likewise, Siri support (in the Apple TV and Apple TV apps) in South Korea rolled out with tvOS 15.1.1.
Go to Settings> System> Software Update and select Update Software to install any updates available for your Apple TV. Perhaps this is just a solution to an issue with Siri stuck or unavailable on your Apple TV.
8. Reset Apple TV
Consider this troubleshooting step as a last resort if Siri is still not working after restarting and updating your Apple TV. If your Apple TV is connected to the Internet, it’s best to update its software during the factory reset process.
Go to Settings> System> Reset and select Reset on the confirmation page.
9. Buy A Replacement Remote
The problem here may be the faulty remote control. Although the Apple TV Siri Remote is durable, dropping it too often or immersing it in liquid will damage it. In addition, Siri will not work if (any of) the dual microphones on the Siri Remote are faulty.
Your Siri Remote can be damaged if some (or all) of the buttons sometimes fail or don’t work at all. In the official Apple store, the new Siri Remote costs $ 59.
Contact Apple Support
Before purchasing a new Siri Remote, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider to check your Apple TV and Siri Remote for hardware or manufacturing defects.
