Prioritize Downloading in Multipart torrent.
The torrent addict writes:
Dear RTT,
I download a TV show from a torrent; it contains about 20 episodes. When I started downloading, all files were downloading at the same time.
But I want to download the files in the order in which, for example, episode 1 should be downloaded first, then episode 2, and so on. This will allow me to watch the episode at the same time while the consecutive videos are still loading. Is it possible?
Hello torrent addict! So, you want to download parts of a torrent file (in your case, episodes) in sequence. Right ? Well, the solution is simple, but it’s hidden somewhere in the settings. So let’s see.
Navigate to the BitTorrent client. Select a torrent, and in the details pane at the bottom half of the screen, select the files option. You will see a list of all editions, right click on the files you want to download and select “high priority” and for the other, set “low priority”.
As the name suggests, high priority files will be downloaded first, followed by low priority data. This way you can enjoy watching your video while the rest is still loading.
Note. Since your bit-torrent download is dependent on your partner’s download, there is no guarantee that the high priority file will be downloaded first. If the high priority files are available on the partner’s computers, then the bit torrent will try to download them first, otherwise it won’t work. I’ve been using a workaround for a long time, however, and it works in most cases.
