What is Reddit? At first glance, Reddit may seem intimidating to the uninitiated observer. Self-proclaimed “home page of the Internet”, Reddit is a huge and diverse community, and anyone who knows anything about the Internet can tell you that it can be both a blessing and a curse.
Like a bustling city, Reddit has both a nice and not-so nice side. You can’t just write off an entire website for one trip to the wrong area. At least without visiting the more beautiful places first.

To make it easier for you, we’ll tell you a little about what Reddit is and how you can get started using it.
What is Reddit?
Reddit is essentially a platform that relies on the online community to decide what deserves and what doesn’t, allowing them to post their own links and information. Users of the site will then be responsible for voting these posts, up or down, to determine which information is the best.
The site is divided into different thematic sections called subreddits. Navigating these subreddits in order to find the information most important to you is often the cause of the intimidation that Reddit generates the most. The amount of information is overwhelming and can hit you hard if you are not familiar with the infrastructure.

Links with the most votes will become more visible and easier to find on the Reddit homepage. Links that get the most negative votes may be lost and buried never to see the light of day.
Registering an account
- On the main Reddit page, find the SUBSCRIBE button located in the upper right corner next to the LOG IN button.
- From Reddit Home, find the Sign button in the upper right-hand corner next to the Sign in button.
- The next window will require the email address that you want to assign to your Reddit account. Enter text in the field and click NEXT.
- In the last window, you must choose a username and password. The username will be what others recognize you on Reddit, and you will need a password to log into your account.
- Once all information is complete, complete the process and register your new Reddit account by clicking the SUBSCRIBE button.
- Scroll down the ribbon page until you see this image in the right sidebar.
- Fill in all the required information in the next window.
- Click CREATE COMMUNITY to create a subreddit.
- You can visit the old site by clicking your username in the upper right corner and choosing it from the drop-down menu.
- From here you will need to click on the very edge of the left side of the screen.
- A side menu will open with the option to create a multireddit.
- Name your multireddit and click “Create” for your multireddit.
- You can start adding the subreddits you want to include in your feed from the right sidebar.

Reddit is the perfect environment for meeting like-minded people who are socializing and have similar interests. If you are a writer, adorable pet lover, or a big sports fan, you can find a subreddit full of discussions and topics related to this topic.
Enter anything that might interest you in the search bar at the top of the page to get started. Reddit has several advanced options and filters available to you if you choose to use them.

If there is no subreddit related to the topic you are looking for, you can always create your own.
However, I would be careful when it comes to running your own subreddit. Being a subreddit moderator is a very difficult job, especially if your subreddit has become extremely popular. You will be forced to enact the law, banishing intruders, removing spam from conversations, and monitoring everything that happens on the subreddit.
Some people love the dedication of the community, so if you happen to be one of them, feel free to give it a try. First, I think it would be better to join some of the subreddits already created to at least get an idea of ??what to expect.

Until you are logged into Reddit, the first page will be populated with default subreddits that everyone can see. Once logged in after registering an account, you will be able to set up your Reddit feed with the subreddits you you want to subscribe to. After subscribing to a subreddit, you will see that your feed is filled with the latest posts from that subreddit.
You can join a community or follow a user directly from the search results by clicking the corresponding button to the right of them. For those who prefer to check everything before subscribing, you can directly click on the page, view topics that the user or community likes, and decide to subscribe using the JOIN button at the top or the SUBSCRIBE button in the right sidebar.
Creating your own subreddit

It’s easy to create a subreddit, launching it is where the difficulty comes in. Getting other people to visit this is also not easy most of the time. Maintaining a community takes a lot of effort, so make sure you are prepared before proceeding.
