Monitoring RAM, CPU and Battery Usage On Your iPhone.
If you have had an iPhone for some time and you notice that its performance is slower than usual, you constantly run out of space for new items, or the battery lasts no more than a couple of hours, you need to monitor the use of three main components.
Checking your iPhone’s RAM, CPU, and battery usage will help you determine if your battery is running low or if your phone needs to be replaced at all.
It will also help you learn how to support your device to improve performance so it can do the tasks you use it for while saving money that you would otherwise have to spend on expensive replacement and repairs.
This is not the same as monitoring the processor or GPU on your laptop, but there are some simple methods you can use to check the processor on your iPhone, as well as battery life and memory usage.
There is no built-in way to monitor your iPhone’s CPU or RAM, but there are several free and paid CPU apps you can get from the App Store. In this guide, we will show you how to do it using the Lirum Device Info Lite app.
In terms of battery life and uptime, you can use your own settings to test them, or a third-party app if you like.

How to monitor RAM usage on iPhone
You may not hear about specs like iPhone RAM when Apple speaks, or even find such information on the company’s website. However, you can find it from a variety of sources because some government regulatory agencies require Apple to provide them with this data. For example, China’s TENAA (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) has this information.
For the latest iPhones like the 8 Plus, XS Max, XS, X and XR, the RAM is 3GB or 4GB depending on the model, and the battery capacity ranges from 2675mAh to 3174mAh.
As mentioned earlier, there is no direct built-in setting on your iPhone to track and / or view the actual size of your iPhone’s RAM, but you can use the Lirum Device Info Lite app to check the actual and used memory.
The Lirum Device Info Lite app is available for free and can help you find out the characteristics of your iPhone while monitoring its performance.
To check RAM on iPhone, download and install the app on your iPhone. Launch the app and go to the home screen. Click “Options” (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen.
Then click “This device”.
Tap System. Check the metrics you want and exit the app when done.
How to check CPU usage on iPhone
Your iPhone may limit its clock cycle to conserve battery power, but in case the device is running at full power, you need to check its processor frequency. To check the processor on an iPhone, you can also use the Lirum Device Info Lite app.
It has a real-time, multi-core optimized CPU usage monitor that allows you to view real-time graphs of CPU usage and see metrics such as:
- GPU cores
- GPU Model
- Base CPU Core Frequency
- Current and Maximum CPU Frequency
- Contrast Ratio
You can also see your iPhone’s internal activity and system data with real-time memory allocation graph, memory frequency, memory size, and more.
To check the CPU usage on your iPhone, launch the app and go to the home screen. Click “Options” (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen.
Then click “This device”.
Tap CPU.
Check the metrics you want and exit the app when done.
Alternatively, you can go back to the home screen and click Tools.
Click “Processor Monitor”.
Check out a graphical representation of your iPhone’s processor performance.
How to monitor battery usage on iPhone
You can also check the battery life and health or performance of your iPhone. But unlike checking RAM and CPU usage, which requires an app, you can use your own settings on your iPhone, or use a third-party app if you like.
To check the battery on your iPhone, open Settings and tap Battery.
Tap Battery Status to test the health and performance management feature that prevents unexpected shutdowns by dynamically managing your iPhone’s performance. It can also turn off your device automatically.
This feature turns on if your iPhone’s battery cannot instantly provide maximum power and only turns on after the first unexpected shutdown. This applies to iPhone 6 or newer models starting with iOS 13.1, but you may not notice the effect of this feature on later iPhones as they have better software and hardware designs.
You can still see information about maximum battery performance and capacity on the Battery Status screen. The latter measures the capacity relative to when your iPhone was new.
If you notice that the capacity is less, this is because the battery chemically ages over time, so the number of hours of use between each charge is reduced, which affects its ability to provide maximum performance.
To check the battery life, you need to visit the Apple Store or go to its own Settings app and tap Battery.
You can then check the battery percentage, app usage, battery level, and other important metrics.
If you’d rather use a third-party app, you can do so and check all three metrics: CPU, RAM, and Battery.
For this tutorial, we used the free Lirum Device Info Lite app. To check the battery level using this app, go to the home screen, tap This device and tap Battery.
Check the battery usage statistics you want to track and exit the app when done.
You can also go to the home screen and tap “Tools” and then “Battery”.
Check the statistics you want to track such as battery percentage, wear rate, actual voltage, charge level, and more.
Monitor your iPhone stats
As we increasingly use smartphones for most of our day-to-day computing tasks, it makes sense to focus more on their performance. Smartphone choice today is more than just a matter of mobile OS preferences and aesthetics; it’s a lot about performance.
You may not be able to see the iPhone’s processor or the number of cores it has when you purchase, but at least now you know how to check your iPhone’s RAM, processor, and battery for better device maintenance.
