Log Out of Multiple Websites at Once

Log Out of Multiple Websites at Once.

Signing out of most websites is easy, just look for the “ Sign Out ” option on the site. However, the same task becomes rather boring if you want to log out of multiple websites like Google, Facebook, Dropbox, Amazon, etc. Sometimes this is not necessary, but for security reasons, you must. What if I told you that you can automatically log out of all websites when you exit your browser? Yes you can, and below are several ways to do it.

Sign out of multiple websites at once

1. Use private mode

This is the simplest solution, you should open all your sessions in incognito mode. In private / incognito mode, the browser does not allow websites to store cookies or data on your computer. Therefore, when you close your browser, the website does not store your credentials anywhere and therefore cannot keep you logged in. This way you log out of all websites with one click.

Personally, I prefer to keep all my banking and personal searches private.

In the case of using Google Chrome, to enter incognito mode, you need to open the Google browser and press Ctrl + Shift + N to open incognito mode.

However, there is an easy way to open private / incognito mode with one click. All you have to do is create a separate desktop shortcut.

Create a shortcut to Google Chrome on your desktop. You can do this by going to C: Program Files (x86) Google Chrome Application, right-clicking the Chrome icon and choosing Create Shortcut.

Copy and paste the shortcut to your desktop.

Now, let’s change the shortcut to open incognito mode on double click. Right click on the shortcut and select Properties.

On the properties tab, go to the Target text box and add “-incognito” to the referenced link. It should be similar to the path given below: “C: Program Files (x86) Google Chrome Application chrome.exe” -incognito

Click “Apply” to apply the changes and close.

Now when you double click on the chrome icon, it directly opens the incognito tab every time.

The only drawback to this method is that it does not store browser history and click-through data. Thus, there will be no history records and no link tracking. Consequently, the next time you open your browser, you will not know which websites you visited or which links you followed.

2. Wipe data manually!

This method is quite tedious, but your browsing history and link tracking will remain intact. All you have to do is clear the cookies manually.

To do this, press Ctrl + Shift + Del. This should open the Clear Browsing Data dialog box.

Select “All the time” from the pop-up menu and select the “Only cookies and other site data” checkbox. Click on “Clear Data” and this will allow you to easily log out of all websites when you close your browser window.

3. Use browser extensions!

Clearing data and cache manually can be a time-consuming process, and doing it every time before closing the browser is quite difficult. You can download an extension for this task from the Chrome store. They allow you to clear all data with one click.

I would advise to clear your browsing data – Google Chrome as it has no ads. You can get it easily from the Chrome store and the same for Mozilla Firefox is available here. You can find similar extensions for other browsers as well.

After installing the extension, you will see an eraser icon in the upper right corner of your Chrome browser.

Click on it and select Cookies from the drop-down list.

After that, it will clear all cookies from your computer while keeping your browsing history and link tracking.

4. Use of web sites

There are several websites like Logify, Super Logout and Vacate that help you log out of all websites with one click. The basic concept of these websites is that they send a GET request to the web server on your behalf, asking you to log out. This is a pretty nifty trick and won’t give you any security problems. The best part is that they will also work on your smartphones like Android and iOS.

Super Logout provides a list of 30+ websites from which it can log out. As soon as you load the Super Logout webpage, it will immediately log you out of all supported accounts.

Note: only open the web page if you want to log out of all websites.

The code for Super Logout is readily available on GitHub here. You can pull the code from there and add your website title to it. It is enough to add one line of code to the existing code and your website will be supported by the Super Logout feature in the future. This is a handy feature that makes Super Logout more flexible.

Logify is another such application, but it only supports a limited number of websites. You can grab the code from GitHub here and modify it accordingly.

Vacant is another site that does the same. The only thing that makes it different from the options above is that you can choose exactly the website you want to exit from. You can choose from the list of websites mentioned. They could also add an extra button that can instantly log out of all websites.

None of these websites support Facebook. The only downside to these websites is that you have to visit the website every time you need to log out. For convenience, you can add them to your bookmarks.

This method will not work if you lose your internet connection.

5. Clear cookies automatically!

From all the methods mentioned above, it should be clear by now that you are logging out of all websites after deleting the local data and cookies stored on your computer. How about the following you can do every time you exit the browser?

Yes, this is the answer, and the following steps are for that:

Click on the hamburger icon in the upper right corner of Chrome and select Settings, or you can go directly to the settings page.

Log Out of Multiple Websites at Once

Click “Advanced” and go to the “Content Settings” section, expand it.

Log Out of Multiple Websites at Once

Select Cookies from the menu.

Log Out of Multiple Websites at Once

Enable the option “Store only local data until you close the browser”.

Enabling this option will delete all your locals when you exit the browser. So the next time you open your browser, you will be logged out of all sites.

The best way to log out of multiple websites?

Using sites like Logify, Super Logout should serve a purpose if you only want to log out of all sites once. If you want to do this every time you close your browser, I would suggest changing your Google Chrome settings or using incognito mode. Clearing cookies is especially useful if the website does not have an exit button.
