Is JBL Flip 6 loud?

Is JBL Flip 6 loud?.

The latest portable speaker JBL Flip 6 looks almost identical to Flip 5. This certainly applies to the appearance and design. However, JBL has a tradition of making small but important improvements that make their speakers some of the best on the market.

We’ve been using the new Flip 6 for a month to see what’s improved and whether it’s worth paying $130 for a new model. Read our full JBL Flip 6 review to find out.

JBL Flip 6: First Impressions and Specs

As you can see from the photos, the Flip 6 is not a groundbreaking invention, but a solid addition to JBL’s line of portable Bluetooth speakers. In addition to its beautiful design, the Flip 6 boasts dual bass drivers that provide outstanding bass reproduction. You can feel them pulsing on each side of the speaker as you play music.

One big improvement that every outdoor enthusiast will appreciate is the official IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating. This makes the JBL Flip 6 waterproof and dustproof, and the perfect companion for any trip to the beach or pool party (the speaker also floats). Speaking of parties, there’s also a new companion app that lets you tweak your equalizer settings to take your sound to the next level.

The Flip 6 is another great example of JBL’s portable speakers, capable of delivering loud, high-quality sound without taking up much space. You can put it on any surface and don’t worry about dust, sand or water thanks to the IP67 rating. It is worth noting that Flip 6 is just a wireless speaker. No voice assistant integration, no microphones for phone calls or an auxiliary input for wired listening. However, the Flip 6 makes up for this by delivering powerful sound and powerful bass.

Design and Unpacking

The design of the Flip 6 is consistent with the corporate style: the JBL logo is now made in large letters in the center of the speaker housing. When you touch the speaker, you’ll notice textural accents here and there: both the logo and the passive bass drivers now have a metallic look, for example.

The power button, Bluetooth button, and USB-C charging port are in the same places as the Flip 5. However, the panel they sit on is now smaller compared to its predecessor.

There is an adjustable strap that makes it easy to lift the speaker, hang it or carry it with you. There is also a small rubber foot underneath the main panel that keeps the speaker stable so it doesn’t roll off the table. This is a more elegant solution than the large rubber pad on the Flip 5.

The rubber Partyboost button, the volume control buttons and the multifunctional playback and track navigation button are placed in a separate line on the speaker’s fabric casing. The multi-function button allows you to skip tracks only forward, not backward. Other than that, you have all the features you need on this control panel.

Audio Quality & Features

Don’t be fooled by the Flip 6’s compact size. This speaker can play loud enough to fill not only your living room, but even outdoor spaces where there are no walls to bounce off sound waves. The Flip 6 achieves this with dual passive radiators and a treadmill-shaped woofer that handles bass and mids to help deliver decent bass and mids. At the same time, a separate tweeter responsible for high frequencies ensures that the sound is not distorted at high volumes.

In terms of numbers, the JBL Flip 6 has a dynamic frequency response range of 63-20kHz with an output power of 20W RMS for the woofer and 10W RMS for the tweeter.

If you don’t know how to read these numbers, don’t worry. Here’s the conclusion: The JBL Flip 6 sounds equally pleasing no matter what kind of music you listen to. You can expect strong bass lines, rich vocals, crisp rap sequences, and smooth yet clean instrumental melodies from this speaker.

If you want to boost it up and boost the sound even more, you can use JBL’s Partyboost feature to pair the Flip 6 with a compatible speaker (or multiple speakers, up to 100) in party mode (or mono) to create a wall of sound. So if you have any compatible JBL speakers like the JBL Charge 5, Flip 5, or Xtreme 3, you can sync them together and really start the party.

You can enter Partyboost mode by pressing the Partyboost button on the control panel or via the JBL Portable mobile app. And if you have 2 Flip 6 speakers, you can use the same button to connect them and play your music in stereo.

App and Connectivity

The JBL Portable (formerly JBL Connect) app for Android and iOS opens up more ways to control your JBL speaker. Turn on your Flip 6 and launch the device pairing app. From the app, you can turn on Partyboost mode, access the user manual, turn the feedback signal on and off, use the equalizer and install software updates to keep your speaker running smoothly and for a long lifespan.

The application is simple and convenient, just like the speaker itself. In the equalizer, you can adjust the low, mid and high frequencies. You can also use the app to change the name of your Flip 6 to your own.

Pairing the Flip 6 with your smartphone or other speakers is quick and easy thanks to Bluetooth version 5.1. You can also connect the speaker to two devices at the same time and take turns playing music with your friends.

Battery Life

JBL claims the Flp 6 lasts for 12 hours of playback, which we found accurate during testing. If you want to charge the battery, the charging time from zero to full charge is about 2.5 hours, and you can use the included USB-C charging cable.

Flip 6 vs. Flip 5

If you’re a JBL user looking to upgrade your portable speaker from Flip 5 to Flip 6, you’re probably wondering if it’s worth it since the speakers look the same. Here are the main differences between the two speakers to help you decide.

Should You Buy the JBL Flip 6?

The Flip 6 is a great addition to the JBL lineup. It lacks some of the features people expect from today’s wireless speakers, including voice assistant, speakerphone, AUX port, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The JBL Flip 6 is a portable speaker that you can take on any adventure and will play great music no matter what environment you use it in.

If you already have a Flip 5, you might want to wait for the next generation for the upgrade to be more substantial. However, the Flip 6 will be a great speaker to pair with the Flip 5 if you want to use them in Partyboost mode.
