Install Purchased Apps from Windows Store on Another PC

I’ve been using Windows 10 for a while now and something I did was buy some useful apps from the Windows Store. If you’ve ever purchased an app on an Apple device, you’re probably familiar with the fact that you can then download the same app on other iOS devices for free. It’s nice because I’m not going to pay for the same app on my iPhone and iPad.

Likewise, I don’t pay for the same app on multiple instances of Windows 10. With Windows Store and App Purchases, you can purchase the app and install it on 10 Windows 10 PCs. I’m not a big fan of the 10 PC limit, but I I think it’s better than nothing. And I doubt most people will have more than 10 copies of Windows 10.

However, unlike Apple’s App Store, you can only use one account to install apps on different PCs. So if a family member buys an app from the Windows Store, you won’t be able to download it for free. With Apple, you can simply copy the app and email it for free.

Install apps purchased from the Windows Store

To install a purchased app on another Windows PC, you need to open the Windows Store app. Just click Start and click the Store tile. If it’s not there, just enter store.

Click the three dots button in the far right corner and select My Library.

You will now see a list of the apps you have purchased or installed previously, broken down by categories such as Apps and Games.

To install an app on your current computer, simply click the download button that appears to the right of the app icon / name. It’s a little down arrow with a line below it.

Once installed, the app will appear in the Recently Added section of the Start menu. You will also receive a small notification in the Action Center with a launch button to open the app.

This is it! You can now install purchased applications on ten computers for free. At this point, you need to do some weird things like create another Microsoft account and then buy the app again. Then you can install it on 10 more PCs using your new Microsoft account. Enjoy!
