I have a soft spot for portable applications. They do not require installation on your computer and can be run from a USB stick. This means that there will be no junk on your computer that gradually accumulates in the installed software.
But the downside is that portable apps are only for Windows computers. To date, I have never seen anything for macOS or Linux (or maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place).
Here are some portable applications specifically designed to support the Windows operating system that have proven invaluable to me. Either way, download the portable application from the links below, and then unzip the folder, making sure the folder structure and file locations remain in place. If you move anything to the application folder, it won’t work.
BleachBit
When it came to deleting unnecessary files on my computer (temporary files from the Internet, cookies, browser history, etc.), I’ve always relied on CCleaner. But then CCleaner came under serious controversy, including Trojans, data collection, installing other software without permission, and more.
So now I’m using BleachBit and it’s no worse. Of course, it doesn’t clean up as many things as CCleaner, but it does the job I want and that’s the main thing. In addition to cleaning the Windows OS from dirt, you can also force it to delete unnecessary files for other programs, as well as overwrite deleted files and destroy files and folders.
BleachBit also had a moment of shame when it was revealed that Hillary Clinton had used it to delete her emails in 2016

FixWin 10
Anyone who uses Windows knows full well that the operating system is far from perfect. Problems can arise at any time and you don’t know why. This is why something like FixWin 10 is very useful to have a USB in your toolbox.
Built on one of my favorite websites, FixWin 10 solves a lot of potential problems with Windows 10. But the main rule of thumb when using something like this is to never change anything unless you know what you are doing. This is the fastest path to a blue screen of death and a complete Windows crash. Just in case, perform a system restore first so that you can undo any changes in case of an error.
If something doesn’t work with your Windows computer, check FixWin 10 to see if it will reset the feature for you. All it takes is a mouse click and, in some cases, a system reboot to see the changes.
Revo Uninstaller program
Another Windows nuisance is that removing something from the Installed Programs section does not always remove everything associated with the program. Thus, the actual program may disappear, but temporary files and Start menu items can still clutter up.
Revo has an excellent reputation for activating and doing the job Windows is supposed to do itself, which is deleting files properly. As a result, it takes time to uninstall the program, but that is exactly what happens if done correctly.
When you run the uninstall process, Revo first creates a system restore point to roll back it if necessary. It then uninstalls the program, looks for associated temporary files, cookies, Start menu entries, folders, and more. Then you can delete them in one go.
Revo also offers a wide range of other tools like delete Microsoft Office document history, delete other Windows files like logs, secure shredder and more.
Zip2Fix
Although the website says that Zip2Fix only works up to Windows 8, I have no problem with it on Windows 10. And it saved my skin on many occasions when important files were captured inside a corrupted zip file and I needed them extract. Zip2Fix comes to the rescue.
Obviously, if the files inside are damaged and cannot be recovered, the program will not be able to do anything to restore them. But if the file can be extracted from a zip archive, then Zip2Fix is ??your best bet to try and get it. No more “the dog ate my homework”. Fast, fast and free.
Virtual Software Editor
Each file format on your computer is assigned a default program to open it. So PDFs open in Adobe, TXT in Notepad, and PSD in Photoshop.
But what if your program’s default settings are somehow messed up and changed? Or what if you want to easily change the default program for a specific file format? Then the default Program Editor portable application will help you simplify your life.
In addition to the default programs, you can also change the autorun settings, update program icons in Windows Explorer, and edit the right-click context menu options.
do you want more?
The best places on the web to get portable apps are Portable Apps, SnapFiles, PortApps, and Portable Freeware Collection Obviously, be careful when downloading as you never know how tested each application is.
