HubPages Review: How Much Money Can You Make.
I joined HubPages back in 2012, but I really started writing articles in late 2014, and six months later I got my first income from HubPages. A bit ($ 60) but it helps. Screenshot of my hub earnings report
And now I feel comfortable enough to share my opinion on HubPages, its pros and cons, how much money can be made from HubPages, etc.
What are HubPages?
HubPages is a blogging community. During registration, you can choose a subdomain for your blog. For example mine is receivetipstricks.hubpages.com.
Once you sign up, you can start writing your article right away. These articles are called œhubs . You can write on any topic you like and make money from it. This is easier said than done, of course.
How do HubPages work?
Now that you know what HubPages are, you can find out how people make money from it. Right ? Well, the answer is simple – advertising!
You write high quality content for, say, The 5 Fastest Cars, and HubPages will serve relevant ads like auto insurance, etc. Now, if visitors read your article like these ads and click on them, you get paid. And HubPages too.
HubPages differs from self-hosted blogs in that it’s easy to set up and doesn’t have to pay for hosting or domain.
How much money can you make on HubPages?
Obviously, HubPages is not a scam. You can really make money on HubPages. I know because I knew.
To understand its potential, let’s first understand its income model. Hubs make money using ads like Google Adsense, Amazon and Ebay affiliates.
The split is 60-40, meaning for every $ 100, you get $ 60, while HubPages takes the rest to provide you with hosting and writing platform.
But let’s talk about numbers. Looks like I have about 37 select hubs (articles) that make $ 10-15 per month. But it takes time for content to mature. So if you can write about 50-70 articles, you can count on $ 50 per month. HubPages are a good source of passive income.
However, this is a big generalization, income depends on your niche, cpc, cpm and many other factors. You can earn more or less.
How do you get paid from HubPages?
Apparently the only way to get paid from HubPages is through Paypal. The minimum payment threshold is $ 50.
When you get paid, it is a bit tricky as it depends on your type of income (ebay, Amazon affiliate programs or Adsense, etc.). Most often, you get paid after the 28th of every month, provided that you have reached the threshold.
Who Should Try HubPages?
HubPages is for people –
- those who are not tech-savvy and love to write (housewife)
- Who already have a 9-5 full-time job and want to write part-time working day
- Who wants to make a small but passive income
- Who wants a ready audience (HubPages community)
- Who does not want to create their own blog
Who Should Avoid HubPages?
HubPages are not for people –
- who like full control over their site
- who work full time on the web
- who want to make money fast from writing articles
- People who have their own websites.
- Who needs backlinks for their “other blog”
True or false
1. Is it easy to get Adsense approval with HubPages?
True. Many people (including close friends) get Adsense endorsements with only 5-10 quality hubs. However, that was a few years ago, and now the quality of HubPages has deteriorated, as is the traffic it receives from Google.
2. Hubs occupy high positions in search results
Lying. Based on my personal experience, I can tell that HubPages are not ranking as they used to be a few years ago. It attracted a lot of internet marketers over time and its quality has declined since then.
3. HubPages are good for backlinks.
Lying. HubPages are among the high PR sites, and people often build hubs for backlinks. But this is useless because most of the outbound links to HubPages are untracked. It is considered that the author must be 75 or more to receive links for subscribing. Therefore, if you are looking for a guest post, keep these criteria in mind.
4. HubPages makes money easy.
Lying. Most people join HubPages for easy money, but they are wrong. This is partly due to the HubPages affiliate program. People are encouraging others to join hubpages because they get a 10% commission on referrals.
But the truth is, posting an article on HubPages is not easy due to their high quality standards.
Conclusion
Is HubPages a Legal Way to Make Money Online? Yes. But the average Joe can’t make thousands of dollars from it.
This is good for non-techies who don’t want to burden themselves with domain, hosting, or site management issues. However, because of his 60-40 income, I always suggest that you create your own blog.
