How to watch the Oscars 2022.

It’s that time of year again. The 94th Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, is set to air on ABC on March 27 (Sunday) at 8:00 pm ET/5:00 pm PT.

Actresses like Ariana Debos and Kristen Stewart are getting their first nominations, as well as Best Actor nominations like Denzel Washington (his 10th Oscar nomination), and Oscar 2022 is filled with an exciting line-up of nominees. But what if you don’t have a cable? Where to watch the Oscars?

Can You Watch the Oscars Without Cable?

Short answer? Yes, you can.

If you’re in the US, it’s easiest to stream the Oscars live on ABC.com or on ABC TV.

However, if you are cutting the cord or intend to travel outside of the US, you may not be able to watch the Academy Awards on the ABC website. The reason is that you will need your cable TV login credentials in order to use the ABC website for streaming. Also, if you are outside the US, you may need to bypass geo-blocking.

You can watch Oscar online no matter where you are. You don’t need a cable, just a good VPN and a subscription to a streaming service like Hulu+Live TV, FuboTV or YouTube TV where you can watch the Oscars is enough.

Can’t wait to see your favorite nominees walk the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles this March? You can also:

If you meet these conditions, you will be able to watch the Oscars on ABC.com or on the ABC Android or iOS app. Please note that you will need your cable provider credentials to log in.

Hulu + Live TV: 7-day free trial, $69.99/monthFubo TV: 7-day free trial, $69.99 per month youtube TV: 7-day free trial, $64.99 per monthDIRECTV STREAM (formerly AT&T TV): 5-day free trial, $69.99 per month month

How to Watch Oscars from Outside the U.S. and Without Cable?

If you are outside the US, you may not be able to access one or more of the streaming services mentioned in the previous section, depending on where you are. The easiest way to watch the biggest names in Hollywood at the Oscars from outside the US and without a cable is to use a VPN.

A VPN (virtual private network) allows you to obtain a US IP address by tunneling your traffic through a US server. When you visit a website, it checks your IP address to determine your location.

If you are in a geo-blocked region, the website will not allow you to access your content. Acquiring a US IP address with a VPN will make the website think you are physically in the US and grant you access to its content.

If you want to watch this year’s Oscars from outside the US, here’s how you can use a VPN:

Sign up with a VPN provider like ExpressVPN or NordVPN. Download and install their app on your device. ExpressVPN has an app for most devices, including Android, iPhone, Amazon Fire TV, and Amazon TV Stick. However, if your device is not supported, you can always set up ExpressVPN on your router. After installing the app, launch it and connect to a US server.

You should now be able to access streaming platforms that are geo-blocked outside the US

Different VPNs support different sets of devices. If you want to use a geo-blocked service on an unsupported device like Apple TV or Roku, check if you can install a VPN on your router. Setting up a VPN on your router will allow all devices connected to it to use the VPN.

VPNs don’t cost a fortune, but if you don’t want to spend money on a VPN just to watch the Oscars, see if your VPN provider offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Most good VPNs do this, and you can request a full refund after watching the awards show if you have no other use for the VPN.

Note that you should consider using a VPN anyway because it keeps you safe when using public Wi-Fi and allows you to access geo-blocked content on Netflix and other streaming platforms.

Use HDTV Antennas to Watch the Oscars 2022

The main purpose of an HDTV antenna is to receive electromagnetic signals from a television station and convert those signals into audio and video content. HDTV broadcasts provide better (or at least as good) picture quality as cable or satellite, but more importantly, they don’t charge a monthly fee.

If you want to watch the Oscars without a cable, you might want to consider an HDTV antenna like the Sling TV antenna. You get free access to channels such as ABC, CBS, and FOX, among others.
