How to Use Your Phone as a Drawing Pad for PC

How to Use Your Phone as a Drawing Pad for PC.

If you are drawing or painting, you might be tempted to buy a Wacom drawing pad. But, before shelling out $ 99, you can even use your Android device as a drawing tablet. All you need is a cheap stylus and a third-party app to mirror your Windows PC to your Android device. Here’s how to do it.

Use your phone as a PC graphics tablet

In this case, we’ll be using Google’s Chrome Remote Desktop app, a popular TeamViewer alternative. It allows you to control your home or work computer from a remote device. In our case, we will use it to access our Windows PC from an Android smartphone. All you need to do is install the Chrome Remote Desktop app on both devices and make a couple of settings changes. Let’s start.

Step 1. Go to the Chrome Remote Desktop web app. Since we want to remotely access our PC, please click the Remote Support button in the upper right corner.

Step 2: Log into your web browser.

If you are not signed in to your web browser, the web application will prompt you to sign in to your Gmail account. If you are already signed in, this step will be skipped.

Step 3. Download the Chrome Remote Desktop Host to your computer.

Then click the Remote Support tab at the top of the page. On the Remote Support tab, click the Accept & Install button in the Get Support section. The Chrome Remote Desktop application will be downloaded to your computer.

To remotely control your Windows PC, you must install the Chrome Remote Desktop application.

Step 4. Install Chrome Remote Desktop Host app on your computer

The Chrome Remote Desktop Host app is an MSI installer and you can simply double click on it to install. As soon as the application is installed, forget about it, we will not need it for further work.

Step 5. Enable remote access in the Chrome Remote Desktop web app.

Return to the Chrome Remote Desktop web app. You will be taken to the “Remote Access” page. Then click the “ENABLE” button in the “This device” section.

Step 6. Configure the desktop name and PIN.

We have to give a name to our computer. You can choose any name you like or leave the default name and click Next. Now we need to enter the 6-digit PIN, which will be required upon login. Finally, click the START button to start connecting to the hosting.

Remember the 6-digit PIN as you will need it when connecting to your laptop.

Step 7. Install the Chrome Remote Desktop Android App on Android.

To control your Windows PC from an Android device, we’ll need the same Chrome Remote Desktop app on our Android phone.

Download Chrome Remote Desktop

Step 8: Connect to PC

If you can’t see your desktop, make sure you’re signed in with the same Google account on both devices.

Your computer name will appear in the Chrome Remote Desktop app for Android. In my case, my desktop name is “DESKTOP-D5355SM” and it appears in the Android app. To connect to a device, click on the device name. You will see a popup asking for the PIN that we set in step 6

This connection requires an active internet connection. For optimal performance and minimum latency, it is recommended that both devices be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 9: start painting

Once your Android device is connected to your PC, switch to landscape mode for the best experience. Make sure your view is properly adjusted and scaled down. If you’ve zoomed in, the view will constantly follow your pencil strokes, which is awkward.

I’ve used it in Photoshop, Photopea, and MS Paint. The latency was minimal and I could follow the sketch on my desktop.

Alternatives

A good alternative to Chrome Remote Desktop is the VNC player. You can set up a VNC server on your phone and then connect through the VNC viewer on your Android device. It works the same as Chrome Remote Desktop and allows you to remotely connect to your Android device. Another paid alternative is iDisplay. It will set you back about $ 14.99. However, it also works over USB and offers much lower latency compared to the wireless option.

After all, when you hone your skills, you will have to buy a Wacom laptop, but for now, have fun. If you have further problems or questions, let me know in the comments below.
