Before reading this article, you should know that there is no official Google Assistant client for Windows 10.
The workaround is a custom Windows 10 clone created by developer Melvin Abraham and available through GitHub.

Google Assistant for Windows 10 Features
This unofficial version of Google Assistant for Windows 10 supports most of the same commands as the official version of Google Assistant.
This includes checking the weather and news, adding items to your to-do list, and managing your Google Home smart home devices.
However, there are some features that it does not support, such as running commands with “Ok Google” or the Continue Conversation feature.
How to Prepare Your Computer for Google Assistant
Since Google Assistant for Windows 10 is written in Python, you need to download and install the latest version of Python on your computer for it to work.
1. Download Python to your computer.
2. Run the executable installer after downloading it.
3. In the installer window, enable Add Python 3.9 to PATH (your version of Python may be different). Then choose Install Now.
4. Open File Explorer and create a new folder on your root drive called GoogleAssistant. For example: C: GoogleAssistant.
Now that your PC is ready to install Google Assistant for Windows 10, you need to set up your Google account with the appropriate permissions and authentication for this to work.
How to Set Up Google Account Authentication
Open your web browser and go to Google Cloud. Select Console in the upper right corner next to your profile picture.
Note. This process has many steps, but if you follow it gradually and follow the instructions, it will only take 10-15 minutes.
1. In the Google Cloud Platform window, click the down arrow in the upper left corner to select a project. In the Select Project window, select New Project.
2. Name the project Win10GoogleAssist. Select “Create” to continue.
3. You will see a notification in the upper right corner. Click Select Project to open a new project.
4. Under the APIs Center section, select Go to APIs Overview.
5. At the top of the window, select Enable APIs and Services.
6. In the next window, enter Google Assistant in the search field. Select Google Assistant API from the list of results.
7. On the next screen, click the blue “Enable” button.
8. You will now see a message about creating credentials for this API at the top of the screen. Click the Create Credentials button.
9. You will see a form to fill out. For which API are you using? Select the Google Assistant API from the dropdown list.
10. In the field “Where will you call the API from?” Select “Other User Interface” (eg Windows, Command Line Tool).
11. In the field “What data will you access” select “User data”. Then select What credentials do I need?
12. A pop-up window will appear to configure OAuth consent. Select “Customize Consent Screen”.
13. In the “User Type” window, select “External” and click the “New” button.
14. In the “Change Application Registration” section, fill in the fields with information about the application. You can give the application any name, but it is best to use the same name you used in step 2 to make it easier to remember. Enter your email address in the User Support Email field.
15. Enter the same email address in the developer contact information field and select Save and Continue.
16. The next page will display information about “volumes”. You can ignore this. Scroll down and select “Save and Continue”.
17. Finally, you need to add test users to complete this section. In the “Test Users” section, select “Add Users”.
18. In the Add Users window, enter your email address in the field and select Add.
19. Scroll to the bottom of the previous form and select “Save and Continue”.
Your Google Assistant API is now enabled and you have granted the required permissions to your Google account to access the API.
Set Up Google Actions
The next step is to use the Google Actions service to enable the Google Assistant action triggers and get the Oauth file that the Google Assistant app for Windows 10 will need.
1. Go to the Google Actions Console and select “New Project”. Select Yes to agree to the terms of service. Then select “Accept and Continue”.
2. Select Win10GoogleAssist as the project name and select Import Project.
3. Scroll down and select Click here next to Are you looking for device registration?
4. On the next page, select Register Model.
5. On the Model Registration page, enter any product name and company name. Then select the device type dropdown and select any device. Then select Register Model.
6. Select Load Oauth 2.0 Credentials. Save the authentication file anywhere on your computer, as you recall in the next section.
You are finally ready to install Google Assistant for Windows 10 on your computer!
Install Google Assistant for Windows 10
To install the app, you need to download the files from the GitHub page and run the Python app.
1. Go to the GitHub releases page and download the latest Windows app (.exe file).
2. Once downloaded, save the file to C: GoogleAssistant, then right-click the file and select Run as administrator to run it. In the first step, select the installation for all users, and then click Next.
3. Change the installation path to the directory you created and select Install.
4. After installing the app, leave the “Launch Google Assistant” checkbox enabled and click “Finish.” After that, the application will start. You will see the Google Assistant icon in the taskbar. Right-click the icon and select Launch Assistant.
5. You can start using Google Assistant, but it doesn’t work yet. You need to authenticate with your Google account. To do this, select “Get Started” in the lower left corner of the window.
6. You see a notification. Select “Continue” to continue.
7. You will see instructions for setting up OAuth credentials. To do this, click the gear icon in the upper left corner of the window.
8. In the Settings window, click the Browse button and navigate to the Oauth file that you saved earlier in this procedure. You can leave the Saved Tokens Path field blank. Select “Save” to continue.
9. You will see a pop-up window about the path of the saved tokens. Select the automatically assigned path.
10. You will be prompted to restart Google Assistant. When you do this, a browser window will open up in which you will need to sign in to your Google account. Accept all permission requests and then copy the token code that Google provides. Paste it into the code field in the Google Assistant window. When finished, click Submit.
11. Restart one last time by selecting Restart Assistant. This time Google Assistant will launch, but now it is linked to your Google account.
You can now use Google Assistant for Windows 10 just like you would on a mobile app. You will even hear the same voice in response to your questions.
Most queries to Google Assistant will work as usual. If you try to use Google account apps like Calendar, the app will connect to the Google Assistant app on your phone, where you’ll need to add a new device and grant it permissions.
