How To Unlock Windows PC With Mi Band 3/2.
I prefer Windows not because I don’t like all other operating systems, but because it allows me to do something interesting with it. I recently wrote an article on how to unlock Windows computer using Android fingerprint, now I found another way – unlock Windows using Mi Band 3.
Mi Band 3 is the most popular fitness tracker from Xiaomi that uses Bluetooth to communicate with smartphones. On the other hand, Windows also allows some scripts to run even on the lock screen. Thus, by using a combination of the two, we can unlock the Windows computer without having to enter the password every time. All you need is a Windows 10 computer with Bluetooth and Mi Band 2 or 3.
Open Windows with Mi Band 3/2
First thing you need to do is download Mi Unlock Tool from the Windows Store. It’s free.
If for some reason you cannot access the app, you need to change your region to China. To do this, go to Settings Region & Language and select China from the list of countries.
Restart your computer and now if you go back to the Windows Store you should see the app.
When your PC restarts, go to the Microsoft Store, search for Mi Unlock Tool or å°ç±³ 智能 è§£é” in the search bar and install the app.
Launch the application and tap the scan strip tab. The app is simple and has only two tabs, one for pairing and the other showing paired stripes. This app can only pair one Mi Band.
Your Mi Band should now be turned on and off. You must turn off Bluetooth on your smartphone so that Mi Band can be connected for free.
On your Windows computer and in the Mi Unlock Tool, scan the Mi Band, it may take a minute or two, but it will detect and prompt you to link the bracelet to the app. To do this, press the button on the strap. After pairing successfully, it will ask for your Windows credentials for authentication. Enter the details and press ok.
That’s all. The tool now invisibly launches a script that looks for the mi group whenever you are locked on the system. When you approach your Windows computer while wearing the Mi Band, it will recognize the bracelet and unlock the computer for you.

Where did it fall?
Mi Band works great and unlocks my computer in seconds, but only works if the bracelet is disabled. If it’s connected to your phone or any other device. Then your computer will probably continue searching for the group. So yes, it is, but you gain something, you lose something. Overall, I don’t see him using it every day, because turning off the mi band every time I want to unlock windows takes longer than actually entering the password manually.
Open Windows with Mi Band?
This was one of the many ways to use the Mi Band, in this case to unlock Windows. I think it’s good that people come up with solutions that push us towards automation and ease of access, but I personally think they are still not perfect enough. Since it requires the Mi Band to be free while the Mi Unlock tool is trying to unlock windows, I would not use it to unlock Windows every day. If you have one that has no other use, you should probably go for it.
