How to Stop iPhone from Autocorrecting Curse Words?.
Damn words can be part of normal conversation, and even if you don’t mean them, Apple won’t let you swipe up to type them. For example, if you use a swipe to say “a word that rhymes with luck,†it will always automatically automatically correct it to “Duck†or any other word that sounds closest to you. Although this is a minor inconvenience, I wanted to solve this problem and found two workarounds. Let’s stop iPhone from auto-correcting curses. Shall we?

1. Use Gboard instead
I mostly use the Apple Keyboard as it works flawlessly with sliding typing, allows for emoji searching, and the tactile cursor is awesome. However, there are other alternatives, such as Gboard, that offer more features than the standard Apple Keyboard. One of the reasons is that you can turn on swear words with a single tap and then just swipe your fingers across the keyboard to keep the foul language dripping.
Just install Gboard on your iPhone and set it up with full access in Settings. Go to Settings General Keyboards Gboard Allow Full Access.
Next, you need to set Gboard as your default keyboard app. The easiest way to do this is to open a text box and then press and hold the globe icon in the lower left corner of your keyboard. When the popup appears, go to Gboard.
Once you’re done configuring your keyboard, open the Gboard app and go to keyboard settings. From the Settings menu, select Keyboard Settings. Turn off the switch next to Block offensive words. This is it. Now you can enter swear words smoothly without auto-correction.
While I admire the many features you get with a third-party keyboard, cursor support is really poor and if you don’t want to use download another app just for cursed words support, here’s a way to do it natively in an iOS app.
2. Use text replacement
This method is more of a workaround that automatically fix curse words that iPhone automatically fixes. What we’re going to do is add text replacement for every word that comes up every time you type in a swear word. For example, whenever I use the word “f” it is replaced by the word “duck”. So I can just add an entry that replaces the word duck with an f-word every time it is typed. Surprisingly, it works really well.
Just open the Settings app, scroll down to find General Settings, and tap to open it.
Under Keyboard Settings, click Text Replacement. Here you can add all the damn words that were originally automatically corrected by the iPhone. Add a new entry by clicking the + button.
Enter curse in the text box next to “Phrase” and the word that is usually automatically corrected in the shortcuts box. You can do this for a few words to improve efficiency, and click “Save” when done.
That’s it, now when you slide your fingers across the keyboard to type in a curse, it won’t automatically replace it with some silly rhyme alternative. However, this method has one caveat: these text replacements will sync to every device via iCloud and will automatically correct your common words like swearing duck. So keep that in mind. While there is a way to save the dictionary locally on your iPhone, it only works if you turn off iCloud sync. To turn it off, go to Settings Your Name iCloud Turn Off iCloud Drive.
Closing words
It was a quick way to stop iPhone curse auto fix. I would appreciate it if they could give you a switch to turn off bad language like Gboard, but here we are. Let me know if you have any setup issues in the comments below or on Twitter.
