How to Shop With Alexa for All Your Shopping.

Whether it’s convenience or necessity, you can easily shop with Alexa on Amazon Echo or Echo Dot. From gifts and groceries to medicines and discounts, Alexa lets you shop for things from the comfort of your home.

Shopping with Amazon Alexa goes beyond ordering a product. You can create shopping lists, reorder previous items, view recommendations, and receive delivery notifications.

In this article, we will look at all the available options.

What Can You Buy With Alexa?

Anything you can buy on Amazon can be bought with Alexa.

What you may not know, however, is that Amazon has expanded into groceries and prescription drugs.

You can buy groceries through Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market now available in select cities. Visit each storefront and sign in with your Amazon account to see if they serve your area.

Buy Items with Alexa Voice Shopping

Shopping is a great way to use Alexa, including adding items to your shopping cart and rearranging the items you regularly buy with 1-Click.

If you want to buy products directly with Alexa, you can turn on the voice shopping feature. Open the Alexa app on your Android or iOS device and select “More” at the bottom.

Select Manage Purchases and select an option. You can choose to allow only recognized voices, set a four-digit code, or allow everyone to buy items.Tap the arrow to go back and select “Payment Settings”. You will see that all transactions use the same 1-Click method offered by Amazon.com. Click “Change payment method” to choose a different card if necessary.

You can then continue to click the arrow in the top left corner to exit your account settings.

Voice Commands

After setting up voice buying, you can easily order products.

You can use simple commands like these:

“Alexa, reorder coffee.” “It, refill my recipes.” “Alexa, add vitamins to my cart.”“It, order some laundry detergent.”Alexa, check out my basket.”

If you change your mind about an order, just say “Alexa, cancel my order.”

Manage Your Shopping Lists

The benefit of shopping with Alexa is that you can manage your lists using Amazon Echo or the Alexa app on your mobile device. In both cases, you will see your lists synced immediately in the mobile app.

Create a new shopping list

To use your voice to create a list, say, for example, “Alexa, create a shopping list” or “Alexa, create a new gift list.” The key is to give Alexa a name for your list.

Alexa will then ask what you want to add to your new list. You can reply with a point or say “nothing” to add to it later.

To use the Alexa app to create a list, start by selecting “More” at the bottom.

Select Lists & Notes at the top.Confirm you’re in the Lists tab and tap the plus sign next to Create List.Enter a name for the list and press Enter or “Enter” on the keyboard. >

As with creating a list with your voice, you will be prompted to add an item to the list. Click Add Item to enter it, or the back arrow in the upper left corner to return to the Lists screen and add an item later.

Add or remove list items

To add items to your shopping list using your voice, use the name of the list and the item you want to add. For example, “Alexa, add milk to my shopping list” or “Alexa, add sneakers to my gift list.”

To remove items you’ve purchased, you can say “Alexa, take the bread off my shopping list” or “Alexa, mark the scarf off my gift list.”

To add items using the Alexa app, select “More” at the bottom.

Select Lists & Notes. Select a name for the list in the Lists tab. 2-Select Add Item. Enter an item and press Enter or Enter on your keyboard.

To delete items in the app, follow the same steps as above to open the list. Then tap the item’s flag or slide the item from left to right.

Delete shopping list

If you have a list that you no longer need, you can easily delete it. Say “Alexa, delete my gift list” with your voice. Alexa will ask you to confirm.

In the Alexa app, go to More > Lists & Notes.

On the Lists tab, swipe the list from right to left and select Delete. Alternatively, select a list to open it, tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select “Delete list” in the pop-up window below.

Note that you can also archive the list if you don’t want to delete it.

Check on Your Orders, Returns, and Deliveries

Buying groceries is only part of the buying process. After you buy something, you want it delivered, right? You can ask Alexa for updates on orders, returns, and deliveries.

To allow Alexa to share this information, or to prevent Alexa from throwing surprises, simply adjust your settings in the mobile app or on the web.

Access notifications for Alexa on Amazon.com

If you are shopping online on the Amazon website, you can easily navigate to the Alexa Purchase Notifications section.

Open the menu under your Amazon username in the top right corner and select “Account”. On the next screen, scroll down to the Communication & Content section and select Alexa Purchase Notifications.

You will then see notification options with toggles on the right to turn them on or off. See below for a description of each.

Access notifications in the mobile app

If you’d like to customize notifications in the Alexa app, start by selecting “More” at the bottom.

Then select the options you want by turning on the radio buttons.

Alexa Purchase Notifications

The five sections at the top of the notification list are related to purchases.

Speak or show product names. To hear the names or names of the items you ordered or returned, turn on the switches on the right. If you’re buying gifts and want to keep them private, turn them off.Delivery notifications: Get alerts when your items are undelivered, undelivered, or both.Returns: Get item notifications Order Updates: Get notified about the items you ordered.Shopping Recommendations: Get recommendations for discounts, reorders, or both, depending on your purchases.

After you update your Alexa purchase notifications, you can ask Alexa about different things depending on your choice. Try these commands:

“Alexa, what are my notifications?” for all notifications.”Alexa, where’s my order?” for order and delivery status.”Alexa, find gifts for Valentine’s Day.” for gift recommendations.”Alexa, are there any good deals today?” for today’s deals.”Alexa, any discounts on shoes?” for deals by product type.
