Smart Lock is a security feature in Android that allows you to easily and quickly unlock Android phones and tablets. You can specify the conditions under which Smart Lock should keep your phone unlocked.

Smart Lock has several unlock conditions that you can customize and use. When you meet one of these conditions, your phone becomes or remains unlocked. As soon as your phone detects that these conditions are not met, it will lock again. Then you need to unlock your phone as usual.

Body Detection is a Smart Lock state in which your phone remains unlocked while on you. This condition uses the built-in accelerometer and other sensors on your phone to determine if the phone is moving or sitting idle (still).

When you use your phone and your phone is in motion, the body detection condition is met and your phone remains unlocked. If you put your phone down and nothing happens, this condition becomes false and your phone is locked.

Open the Android Settings app. Scroll down and tap the Security & Lock Screen option.

If you want your device to remain unlocked in certain locations, you can use the Trusted Places feature. This feature allows you to manually define trusted locations. When you are in these locations, your phone remains unlocked.

When the phone detects that you are not in a safe place, it locks.

This feature uses Google Maps and your phone’s GPS to determine your location. You can add multiple locations to your trusted list.

Start the Settings application. Tap the Security & Lock screen and then Smart Lock. Tap the option labeled Trusted Places.

You can now add a safe place to this method. To do this, tap the Add Trusted Location option.

You will see the Google Maps screen. Drag the marker to the location that you want to use as a safe location. Then click “Choose this location” at the bottom.

How To Set Up Trusted Devices In Android Smart Lock

The Trusted Devices Method in Smart Lock allows you to keep your phone unlocked when one of the trusted devices is connected to it. You can use this method with any of your Bluetooth devices.

This includes your car’s Bluetooth system, headphones, smartwatches that use Bluetooth, etc. Please be aware that since this method uses Bluetooth, your Bluetooth devices must be within 100 meters of your phone for them to remain unlocked.

Go to Settings> Security & Lock Screen> Smart Lock on your phone. Tap the Trusted Devices option.

Your phone will display the Bluetooth devices you have used in the past. Tap one of these devices to connect to it. If you want to use a device that hasn’t been connected to your phone before, you need to first go to settings and pair with that device.

When this Bluetooth device connects to your phone, your phone will be unlocked and will remain unlocked. The face recognition function works by scanning your face and matching it with the saved facial details. If the face matches, the phone is unlocked.

Most phones will display a recommendation that this method is less secure than the PIN or password method. Additionally, your phone can be unlocked by someone with a face similar to yours. Therefore, you should use this method with caution.

Go to Settings> Security & Lock Screen> Smart Lock on your device. Select the Trusted Person option.

Read the guidelines for scanning a face with your phone camera. Then click Next at the bottom.

Wait while the phone scans and adds your face to the system. Click Done when your face is added to Smart Lock.

To use this feature, simply turn on your phone. Look at the front camera and your phone will unlock. If your phone won’t unlock for any reason, tap Improve Face Matching in Smart Lock to take another picture of yourself in better lighting.
