How to Send Files Between Android TV and iPhone.
Here’s an easy way to send music, photos, videos, and more from your iPhone to Android TV. All you need is an active Wi-Fi connection and a free app installed on your Android TV. Let’s see how it works.
Send files from iPhone to Android TV
Turn on Android TV and go to the Google Play Store.
Search for “WiFi File Explorer†app and install it on your TV. It’s free and well optimized for Android TV OS.
Once the download is complete, open the app. It will show you the IP address, assuming your Android TV is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Don’t close the app on the TV because we will need to copy the IP address to the iPhone.
Now, grab your iPhone and make sure it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Android TV. Open the Safari browser, enter the IP address displayed on the TV and press Enter.
The Android TV app acts as a local server that allows you to access files from the TV box. If you close the application, the connection will be dropped.
You will see a tree of Android TV files with folders such as Downloads, DCIM, and more. Since the web page is optimized for horizontal display, zoom in on your iPhone to display the icons correctly.
To send a video file from iPhone to Android TV, find and tap the Download folder on the iPhone web page. You will find a download box in the bottom right corner, click on it once to select a video, image, or whatever file you have in your iPhone storage.
You can browse the Files app on your iPhone or the Photos app to find the content you want to send to Android TV. Just tap the file to start downloading.
The speed is pretty decent as there is Wi-Fi. The 1GB video took about one or two minutes. Once the file has been sent, you will see it in the folder directory itself.
The only downside to Wifi File Explorer is that you cannot browse the file manager on Android TV itself and you will have to install a different file browser.
Open the Play Store app on your Android TV, search for “FX File Manager†and install it on your Android TV.
Open the FX file manager and go to your Downloads folder and here you will find the file we transferred from the iPhone.

The setup also works the other way around, and all you have to do is follow these steps. Open WiFi File Explorer app on your Android TV and write down the IP address. Now go to your iPhone and enter the same IP address in the address bar of your Safari browser. The web page will load and you can view the files located on Android TV.
Find the file you want to download to your iPhone and check the box to select the file. You can even download some files here.
Once you have selected all the files, click the Upload button at the top of the list to start uploading.
Start downloading and the files will be automatically saved in the Files app on your iPhone. You can access your files by viewing the Files app.
Last words
It was a fast and easy way to transfer files between Android TV and iPhone. The iPhone is much less restrictive, which is why we can initiate file transfers so easily. Let me know if you have any problems with this method in the comments below or on Twitter.
