How to Send Facebook Messages Without Messenger.
I met an old friend of mine a month ago. He fiddled with his phone with an annoying expression. When I asked him why, he replied, “I don’t want to use the Messenger app. I just want to get my old Facebook back. ”
So Facebook has made big changes to their mobile app. Previously, a user could reply to their messages from the Facebook app itself, but now you need to download an additional app called Messenger in order to send and receive Facebook messages.
And like most Facebook updates, people don’t like that either. Why download an additional app when you can do the same from an existing one. The Messenger app will eat up your phone’s resources and has a very poor privacy policy.
There are several workarounds on the internet to disable the Messenger app. For example, install an old version of the Facebook app or cancel the download by half. But in the long run, they don’t work.
Fortunately, Redditor FreemanAMG has come up with a clever workaround to disable Facebook Messenger. Although this only works on Android and requires ROOT.
Send Facebook messages without Messenger
The process is simple.
Install the Facebook Messenger app as usual and then freeze it with this app. Now that the Messenger app is frozen, you can reply to your messages directly from the Facebook app. You won’t be able to disable the Messenger app in the settings.

What if I don’t have root access?
Freezing Android apps requires root. Thus, a non-authorized user can either use the Facebook mobile site, such as m.facebook.com , or choose a third-party Facebook application, such as Metal for Facebook.
In fact, I highly recommend not using the official Facebook app as it is widely known for its huge battery drain and questionable privacy policies. But if you use Facebook in your mobile browser, they won’t be able to access your contacts or SMS. And you can also send Facebook messages directly from mobile sites. More information here.
To receive push notifications for your messages, you need to manually enable Chrome notification (Chrome Settings Site Settings Notification Allow Facebook) and Facebook push notification (Account Settings Notifications Mobile Enable).
