First of all, you will need the latest version of Skype for your mobile phone. Go to the Play Store and update the Skype app. After that, open the app and sign in to your Skype account if you haven’t already.
To share your screen with another person, you need to make a Skype call first. You don’t need to make a video call to share your screen with another user, it works great with audio calls as well.
Tap a person’s name to open the conversation thread and tap the video call icon or the audio call icon in the upper right corner. It will start connecting your call to the user.
Once the call is established, tap the three dots in the lower right corner to open the options. You will see “Screen Share”. Press the button to activate the screen sharing function. You will be prompted so that the other person can see all the information, click “Start Now” to start broadcasting from the screen of your mobile phone.
That’s all, the interlocutor will see the screen in real time. This feature is platform independent, so you don’t need to worry about being on a mobile phone or computer, your screen can be used on any platform. There is a slight delay in the broadcast, so if you are going to explain something during a conference, make sure you factor in the latency.
Screen sharing on Skype Desktop
Skype has had a feature for sharing your screen with others during a call for some time now. Just like mobile, screen sharing on other platforms like Linux, Mac, Windows 10 is also pretty easy. Just open the Skype app on your desktop or Mac. Sign in to your Skype account and click the person you want to video call.
You can make a video or audio call to share your screen with the user. Just click the video or phone icon in the upper right corner to start a call.
After the call is established, click the three dots in the lower right corner of the Skype window. A list of options will open and you will find the Share screen. Tap Share Screen to start broadcasting.
Skype will give the other party your entire screen and send you a notification, and you can also share your computer’s internal audio, which can come in handy if you’re trying to show them a presentation.
This will project your screen onto another user.
Screen sharing, while relatively straightforward, has some limitations. For example, only one side can use the screen at a time. If the other party decides to start broadcasting at any time during the conference, your channel will be disconnected without any notice.
Skype isn’t the only one that offers screen sharing features. GoTo Meeting, Zoom and even Lightbeam let you share your screen and chat face-to-face at the same time. Check it out.
