Have you accidentally deleted an entire folder of photos from your Android phone? Are you looking for a way to fix all of this? Well, you’re in luck. Follow the instructions below and we hope you can access your precious photos or videos again.
Unfortunately, no folder is protected from deletion. You can accidentally erase any type of content – be it images, videos, PDFs, etc., without prior notice. The main thing to remember is that time is of the essence. You need to try to recover your data as soon as possible so that it won’t be overwritten by something else.
Understanding folders
However, the user is not always to blame. You may lose folders due to damaged SD cards or unexpected phone crashes.
Fortunately, modern devices have built-in features to enable data recovery. This means that there are ways to recover lost files that you would otherwise think were deleted permanently. Try to use your phone as little as possible while trying the options below.
Hidden folders
First, are you sure you’ve lost your files? There is a feature that allows users to hide folders for security reasons. You may have accidentally enabled this option. To find hidden folders, follow these steps:
Go to File Manager.
Tap Menu> Settings. Go to Advanced.
Click Show Hidden Files.
Cloud recovery
You may have cloud backup enabled in the background. Chances are, you’ve signed up for cloud storage like Google Photos, OneDrive, or Dropbox running in the background.
Without your knowledge, your device will automatically save files to your online account!
Even if your files are no longer available on your mobile device, you can still access copies of them by logging into your cloud account.
In Google Photos, for example, you can check your trash folder for images that shouldn’t be there and put them back where they were.
- Tap the hamburger menu icon next to the search bar.
- Go to cart.
- Select the images you want to recover and click “Recoverâ€.
Items in the Trash folder will be permanently deleted after 60 days.
memory card
If you don’t have cloud storage, you might be best off digging around on your SD card. It is assumed that you have saved your files to an SD card.
For this method to work, you need to connect your phone to your desktop or laptop. You will also need to download and install data recovery software.
There are many software solutions for data recovery. You will need to do a little research and make sure the tool you are using is trustworthy, easy to use, and effective. Check out our YouTube video above and our other posts here:

Managing expectations is equally important. There is no guarantee that lost data will be recovered.
Rooting Android phone
Rooting an Android phone is not ideal for casual users. But if you’ve saved all the files directly to your phone and not to your memory card, this may be the only solution.
There are risks, the least of which is to void your device’s warranty. However, root access is required to recover data from the phone itself. But if you’re ready, rooting is not a difficult process. It can even unlock other phone features that might interest you.
We have written several articles on how to root Android phones, so please check them out depending on your device:

protection
The best way to avoid inconvenience is through preparation. Android device users have no excuse not to use Google Photos, Dropbox, or any other cloud storage app. Check out our article on how to store all your photos and videos in the cloud
Although the free versions have limitations, they are sufficient for the average user. Any solution is better than no solution.
Other data recovery solutions
If none of the above worked for you, the only other options you have are free and paid data recovery software. If you are using an Android device, it is best to try data recovery apps from the Google Play Store first.
These apps can scan your SD card or Android internal storage and try to find lost files. Be sure to pick an app that has been downloaded over 500,000 times and has a rating of over 4.0 stars.
If the app doesn’t work, there are paid third-party programs you can try, such as FoneDog, File-Recovery.com, and Remo Software. If they have free versions, they usually only allow you to recover a few files as proof that they can work in your situation.
