How to Print on an Envelope in Apple Pages.
If there is one thing that stands the test of time when printed, it is envelopes. Of course, you can handwrite the name and address of the recipient along with the return address. However, you may need a professional looking envelope or addresses saved on your computer.
With the Apple Pages app, you can copy and paste an address, automatically add a return address, and print envelopes of any size you need. If you’re ready, grab your Mac while we show you how to print on an envelope in Pages.
Open an Envelope Template in Pages
To quickly get started printing an envelope, Pages offers templates.
Open Pages and select New Document.
Select “All Templates” or “Stationery” on the left and then go to the “Envelopes” section on the right. You can choose from different styles of envelopes, including business, elegant and informal. Choose the one you want to use and click “Create”.
You will see an open envelope template with the recipient and return address fields filled in with placeholder data. If your name is associated with Pages, you may see it as the return address name.
Edit and Set Up the Envelope for Printing
When you open an envelope template in Pages, you can edit names and addresses, choose a printer, and choose an envelope size.
To enter names and addresses, simply select the current text and enter your own. You can also copy it from somewhere else, such as the Contacts app, and paste it.
Note that the return address is in the text field. So you can also move it around or resize it if you want.
To select a printer and envelope size, click the Document button in the top right corner of Pages to display the sidebar. Click the Document tab in the sidebar and select your printer from the dropdown at the top. Then use the following drop-down list to select the envelope size.
Create your own envelope size
If you don’t see the envelope size you need, you can set a custom size.
With Pages still open, choose File > Page Setup from the menu bar. In the pop-up window, from the Paper Size drop-down menu, select Manage Custom Sizes.
In the next window, select the plus sign on the left to add a new size. Enter dimensions, margins, and other required measurements on the right. Double-click the default name “Untitled” in the list on the left and give it a name of your choice.
Click OK when you’re done and OK when you’re redirected to the first popup.
You can then select this custom option from the Document sidebar for the envelope size.
Print Your Envelope
When you are ready to print the envelope, start by placing the envelope in the printer according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Then follow the steps below to print.
Select File > Print from the menu bar, or use the keyboard shortcut Command + P. In the pop-up window, you can choose a different printer, use any presets you have, or make any other necessary changes to the print settings. You will also see a preview of the envelope on the left. Select “Print” and go to the printer for an envelope.
Save the Envelope as a Template
If you’ve customized your envelope so that you want to reuse it by making changes to the name and address, you can save it as your own template. This is a huge time saver for envelope printing in the future.
Select File > Save as Template from the menu bar. In the pop-up window, you can add a template to the template chooser or just save it to your computer.
Add to template chooser
To add it to the template chooser, select this option from the pop-up window. When the template chooser appears, name your template and press the Return key.
You will then see this template in the My Templates area of the Chooser the next time you open Pages.
Save the template to your computer
To save the template to your computer, select Save in the dialog box. Choose a location to save the template, give it a memorable name, and click Save.
To use a template, double-click it. You will be asked if you want to open it in a new document or add it to the template chooser (again). To simply open and use it, select New Document.
