How to prevent people from adding you to groups on Facebook.
You can use Facebook to stay in touch with friends, buy or sell products, join fan groups, etc. But problems arise when other people add you to groups, especially if the group is meant to spam or sell you something -or.
The good news is that Facebook’s privacy controls allow you to prevent others from adding you to Facebook groups. Facebook banned anyone from adding you to a group without permission in 2019, but you can still be bothered by notifications about joining groups – the process is almost as annoying.

Here’s how you can stop people from adding you to Facebook groups.
Talk to Your Friends
This is a simple solution, but often overlooked. If your friends add you and invite you to groups, just ask them to stop and say you’re not interested. If they don’t stop, you can always use one of the other options on this list.
Join and Leave the Group
One of the easiest ways to prevent you from being re-invited to a group (especially if it’s a spam group) is to join the group and then leave it. Select Leave Group. A confirmation window will appear. You’ll see a toggle next to the option Prevent other users from inviting you to join this group again.
Turn this switch on and no one will be able to invite you to the group. This effectively blocks any invite for that particular community and is an easy way to avoid invites from friends who have been hacked and haven’t recovered their accounts yet.
Block the Facebook Account
If another person on Facebook keeps inviting you to groups, you always have the option to block them. This can cause some drama, especially if the person doesn’t respond well to restrictions, but it’s an easy way to prevent you from being invited.
If you’re getting too many unsolicited invites, it might be time to block people on your friends list.
To block or unfriend someone, go to your friends list. Next to this person’s name, select the three dots.
You can unfriend or block this person by selecting the appropriate option from the list. The difference is that if you unfriend someone, you can still visit their profile to see their posts. You won’t be able to do this if you block them. Whichever option you choose, this person will not be notified of your actions.
Change Group Privacy Settings
If you are a group admin and you find that people (or bots) are sending group invitations to many people, you can change the permissions and control who can do what in the group.
On the group page, select Group Settings from the sidebar on the left side of the screen.
Under the “Settings” group, click the down arrow next to “Privacy” and select “Private”. Once you do this, the group cannot be made public again. Closed groups must remain so to protect the privacy of members.
Scroll down further. In the Membership Management section, select the pencil icon next to “Who can join the group” and select “Profiles only”. Select Save.
These settings also give you other options, such as what each member of the group is allowed to do. Group management is a big task (keep this in mind if you want to create a new group), so don’t be afraid to trim down the member list to remove spammers or reduce functionality depending on what the members are up to.< /p>
Stopping unwanted prompts is a lot easier than before, but it can still be a little annoying at the best of times. Don’t be afraid to talk to your friends and ask them to stop. If you get invited back to the same group over and over again, just leave it and hit the switch – it will take less time than arguing.
