How to Play PS4 on the Laptop Without Remote Play.
In late 2018, Sony announced the Remote Play feature for Windows 10. However, it includes many preconditions, such as a faster Wi-Fi network with a minimum download speed of 15 Mbps. And to top it off, slow response times with a PS4 controller. All of this can be eliminated by using a capture card like the Elgato HD60s and play directly on your laptop without remote playback. So let’s see how to play PS4 on a laptop without remote playback.

The process is pretty straightforward and all you need is an HDMI cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable. Remember the USB-C to USB-A cable must be USB 3.0 compliant.
1. Depending on your capture card, download the desktop app, game capture app or control center app from the official website. For example, I am using Elgato HD60 for this demo, so I downloaded the Game Capture app for Windows. Similarly, you can get the Mac version from this link.
2. After downloading the application, connect the PS-4 HDMI Out port to the HDMI In port on the capture card using an HDMI cable.
3. The Elgato HD60s now has a USB-C port that can transfer video signals. So, I can plug the USB-C cable into a capture card with a USB-A port connected to my laptop. Thus, the laptop can supply power to the capture card as well as receive video signals over the same cable. Just make sure you plug the USB-A cable into your laptop’s USB 3.0 port.
4. After connecting your laptop, capture card and PS4, launch the Game Capture app. It takes a few seconds for the application to initialize the capture card and then start receiving video signals.
Basically, the capture card recognizes the game device. If you have problems with capture card reception signals, you can manually configure your gaming device. Click on the gear icon under the capture card and select your gaming device as PS-4.
The best thing about this method is that you can use your keyboard as your input device. It might not be as cool as a controller, but it comes in handy if you forget your PS4 controller at home. Plus, since all the processing is done on the capture card, you don’t need a heavy laptop to play PS4.
