How to Password Protect your Photos on iPhone.
iPhone has a built-in way to hide photos and videos in the Photos app. Just select the photo you want to hide, click the Share icon and select the Hide option. However, this is not complete proof. He only hides them from Moments and Albums. Anyone can see your hidden photos or videos by going to the new “Hidden” album.
Fortunately, there is a hidden trick that not only completely hides all your photos and videos, but also password-protecting them using Touch or Face ID. No third party apps required. All you have to do is import all of your personal photos and videos into the Notes application, use the lock function to password protect the note, and then return to the Photos application and delete any media you imported into Notes. Here’s a step by step guide.
Protect your photos on iPhone with a password
To get started, open the Notes app and create a new note by clicking the new note button in the lower right corner of the app. Give it a generic name that is not suspicious. And click Done in the upper right corner.
Now click on the Camera button in the bottom bar of the app and select “Select Photo or Video†from the pop-up list.
The camera roll will open and you can select all the images and videos you want to hide from the iPhone gallery. With all items selected, click the Add button in the upper right corner.
Now we just need to go ahead and lock the note using Touch ID and Face ID. Click the meatball menu button in the upper right corner.
Click the big purple lock button on the shared sheet. If you’ve never set a password for your notes, you’ll be prompted to create one. The password may be different from your iPhone’s password, which means you can safely create a new password to lock your photos.
Enter your password, confirm it, and add a hint. After that, click Done in the upper right corner to complete the lock setup.
Click the lock button that just appeared next to the meatball menu button at the top to lock the note. Every time you want to view a note, you will need to enter the correct password or use Touch ID / Face ID.
Whenever you revisit your note, it will display this lock screen as shown below on the left. To unlock a note, simply click the View Note button and authenticate with Face ID / Touch ID.
Don’t forget to delete photos
Remember that hiding private media in the Notes app does not remove the original media from the Photos apps. So don’t forget to delete images and videos from the Photos app and even from the Trash. To do this, simply open the Photos app and select all the photos you have hidden in the Note app. Click on the trash can in the lower right corner of the screen and select “Remove items”.
iPhone stores a copy of the deleted photos in the Trash for the next thirty days, and then deletes it permanently. You can manually delete photos by simply scrolling down the Albums section and clicking Recently Deleted. Click the Delete All button in the lower left corner to permanently delete the photos.
Last words
It was a quick way to hide your iPhone photos and protect them with Touch ID / Face ID. This is not the most efficient method, but it is still better than hiding your photos in the Photos app, where anyone can access them simply by going to a hidden folder. Alternatively, you can use free third-party apps like Folder Lock, it works in a similar way to the notes app – that is, it password-protects private photos and videos, but it’s much more convenient. You will still have to delete the media from the Photos app though.
