How To Outline Text In Photoshop..
Photoshop. has many ways to make text. unique to a project. Luckily, customizing text. is also relatively easy, even if you’re new to photo editing.
One interesting thing you can do is sketch out the text. in Photoshop.. You may have seen this before on posters or flyers. Photoshop. makes it easy to take whatever font. you want to use and create an outline version of it.
This task is incredibly easy, and your project can look great even if you are new to editing. Here are some ways to create outline text. in Photoshop..
- Enter text.
How to Layout Text in Photoshop.
To start creating a text. outline, select the font. you want to use and enter your text.. You need to make sure that the background. of your image lends itself to the text. outline. It is best if the background. is solid.
If you have a more patterned or rich background., be sure to choose a color for the text. that will be easy to read on it. If the text. is difficult to read, you can always change it later using options such as line weight (more on that at the end).
- Edit text. layer
After you type your text., the next thing you need to do is right-click the text. layer in the Layers panel. Then select Blending Options. On the left side of this window, you will see the Stroke option. Check this box to have your text. outlined in Photoshop..
There are many settings here that you can change to make the outline of the text. look the way you want. However, if you only want to keep the outline of the text. and not the fill, you can do that as well.
- Remove inner fill
Go back to the Blending Options window and under the Advanced Blending box, lower the fill’s opacity to zero. You can also change the fill color of the text. in this window if you like.
Personalization options
There are many ways to make your text. unique. In the Stroke window, you have several different options that you can play with.
The first is size. You can move the slider to change the size of the outline in pixels. This will make it thicker or thinner.
With the Position options, you can choose how the path is positioned around the text.. Selecting “Inside” will place a stroke on the inside of your text.. Outside will place it around your text.. When you choose Center, the stroke starts in the middle and goes both inside and outside the text..
Blending mode will change the way the stroke interacts with the background. of your image.
You can also change the opacity if you want the path to be more transparent and blend in better with the background..
Then there are fill type options. You can choose color, gradient or pattern. The color option will let you choose a solid color, while the gradient lets you choose two colors to blend. Using a pattern, you can fill the path with a pattern of your choice.
Create Multiple Layouts On Text
Another way to create unique outline text. is to use multiple layers. In this way, you can create the effect of multiple paths.
To do this, you first need to enter text. and follow the steps above to create a single outline. Then under Stroke Position, select Inside. Whether you want to keep the text. fill or not is up to you. If you want it to be empty, change the fill’s opacity to zero.
Then you need to duplicate the text. layer. To do this, select the layer and press Ctrl + J to copy it, or right-click and select “Duplicate Layer”. A new layer will appear above the one you copied. With this layer selected, right-click it and choose Blending Options to open the Layer Styles window.
Go to the Stroke options and change the position of this layer to Outside. You will also want to change the color to see this new stroke.
Another way to do this, and therefore you can add as many strokes as you like, is to duplicate the layer again, right-click it again and go to Blending Options> Stroke.
Now, instead of using a position, you can use the size slider to resize the outline until you see it. Make sure you change the color as well so you can see a few strokes. You can do this as many times as you like, outlining the text. as much as you like. Make sure the duplicate layers are placed below the original layer so that they all display correctly.
Use text. layers to create more effects
You may have realized the potential of being able to use multiple text. layers to select text. in Photoshop.. If you want to change some of the letters, but not all, you can do so by creating multiple layers so you can only change some of them, but the final product with all the layers merged will look linked together.
For example, you want some letters to be outlined and some to be filled. To do this, all you have to do is create a layer for your filled text. with the typed characters you want to fill. Then duplicate this layer and turn it into a path.
After that, you will need to rasterize the original filled text.. Do this by right-clicking the original layer and choosing Rasterize Type. You can then select and remove portions of the filled text. that you don’t need. The circled text. will then be visible.
These are just a few of what you can do with Photoshop.’s text. functions. Experiment with layers and strokes to create something completely unique.
