How to Merge Cells in Google Docs on the Web
If you’re working on Google Docs on the web, merging table cells only takes a couple of steps. Keep in mind that you can only merge adjacent cells, but you can merge them vertically or horizontally.Start by selecting the cells you want to merge. You can do this by selecting the first cell and dragging the cursor over the rest. Then you will see the selected cells. 
Right-click one of the selected cells and select Merge Cells from the context menu. 
That’s all you need to do – you should see how your cells have merged into one.
Unmerge Cells in Google Docs on the Web
If you decide later that the merged cells don’t work, you can just as easily unmerge them. Remember that you can only unmerge cells that you have previously merged.Right-click the merged cell and select Unmerge Cells from the context menu. 
Then you will see how your cells return to their original state.
How to Merge Cells in Google Docs on Android
If you take advantage of Google Docs on the go, you can also merge table cells in the Android app. Also, you have two different ways to do it.
- Open a document and select the table cells to merge. You can do this by dragging the blue dot over the cells.
- If necessary, click the Edit button (pencil), and then do one of the following to merge the cells:
- Click the Merge Cells button in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the three dots on the floating toolbar that appears on the screen and select Merge Cells from the drop-down menu.
- You should then see the merged cells ready to go.
To unmerge a cell later, follow the same steps and either uncheck the Merge button or select Merge Cells< /span> in the three dot menu.
How to Merge Cells in Google Docs on iPhone and iPad
Just like on Android, you can merge cells in the Google Docs app on iPhone and iPad in one of two ways.
- Open a document and select the table cells you want to merge by dragging the blue dot over the cells.
- If necessary, click the Edit button, and then do one of the following to merge the cells:
< li>Click the Merge Cells button in the toolbar at the bottom (iPhone) or top (iPad) of the screen.
- Click the Format button (underlined A) at the top, select Table in the pop-up menu and check the Merge Cells radio button.
- This will merge your cells into one cell.
