Have you ever had to repeat a YouTube video over and over? Maybe you are playing a music video on your laptop which is connected to some kind of speakers and you need the same song to repeat over and over again? Or maybe you just want to watch the same clip in which something happens over and over again !?
However, there are several ways to loop a YouTube video. Luckily, YouTube has updated its video player to HTML 5, so in most web browsers all you have to do is right click on the video to loop it!
In this article, I will walk you through all the different ways to loop YouTube videos in your browser. If you’re trying to do this on your phone, it won’t work from the YouTube app. I’ve tried and the only way is to click on the replay button when the video ends. If you need to play the video on your phone, use a web browser and then use one of the web methods mentioned below (InfiniteLooper.).
First method – right-click
If you are using a modern browser and the video you are watching is not one of the few that does not play using HTML5, you can simply right-click the video and select Loop.
As you can see, this is a dedicated YouTube menu. If that doesn’t work for you, it could be because of the video, your web browser, or the operating system you’re using. If you are using Chrome, you can try another trick by right clicking.
Go ahead, press and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard and then right-click the video. Hold down the SHIFT key and right-click again. This time, you should get a different menu that looks a little different, but also has a loop option.
As you can see, this menu is specific to Chrome. Unfortunately, this little trick only works on Google Chrome, probably because Google owns YouTube.
The second method – edit the URL
Another semi-simple way to loop a video is to use a specific URL. For example, let’s say you are watching the following video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBNYwxDZ_pA
The important part at the end is in bold. Now copy the last part just after v = and paste it into the following URL in both places:
https://www.youtube.com/v/DBNYwxDZ_pA?playlist=DBNYwxDZ_pA&autoplay=1&loop=1 pre>
Basically, it creates a single video playlist for you and lets you repeat it over and over.
Third method – create playlist manually
Apart from using the url method above, you can manually create a single video playlist and let it repeat over and over. To do this, you need to log into YouTube. Method 2 works without YouTube login.
When you watch a video you want to loop, click the Add To link below the video.
Click Create New Playlist and give your playlist a name. Once you’ve created your playlist, you will need to click on the little hamburger icon in the upper left corner and select the new playlist you just created in the Library section. In my case, I named it Watch.
There should be only one video in the playlist. Now click the Play All button and this video will play continuously.
Fourth method – location
The four methods involve using websites that only exist for looping YouTube videos. It’s kind of ridiculous, but I think there is a demand! You should use this method if you are trying to loop a video on your smartphone or tablet. For some reason, there is no looping capability in apps on these devices.
InfiniteLooper. is one such looping site. Just copy and paste the URL from YouTube and then hit Search. This will download the YouTube video and let you loop it indefinitely, or even loop a specific part of the video if you like.
Fifth method – extension
The last way to loop YouTube videos if you need a simple solution and the first method doesn’t work for you is to install the extension. For Chrome, there is Looper for YouTube.
After installing the extension, you will see a new loop option below the video. Click on that and you can choose how many times to loop the video, and also if you only want to loop a part of the video. For Firefox, you can use YouTube Video Replay.
Hopefully these techniques will allow you to repeat your (possibly music) video as many times as you like! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to comment. Enjoy!
