How To Make a 3D Photo On Your iPhone.
If you’ve spent some time on social media lately, you may have seen “3D photography” in your news feed. These photos look like they have depth when you scroll past them or tilt your phone to the side. No advanced skills are required to publish your own 3D photos to iPhone. All you need is a compatible iPhone and a Facebook account.
Currently, the only compatible iPhones are the iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, and XS Max. This is because the 3D Photo feature uses multiple cameras on the flagship iPhone models.

Your photo will only be taken in 3D later. For starters, all you have to do is take a picture in iPhone portrait mode. Open the camera and swipe until you find portrait mode. Make sure you hold your camera still, as portrait photography takes longer than normal photography. Any movement will result in a blurry image.
After taking a portrait photo, close the camera and open Facebook.
- Click What’s on your mind? â€at the top of the news feed. If you are in a group or on a page, click Write something .
- Then click Photo / Video. Alternatively, you can simply click “Photos” under the field. What’s on your mind? “.
- After you click Photo, click Camera Roll at the top of the screen and select the Portrait folder. Select the photo you want to upload. Once you’ve done that, the Make 3D option will appear in the upper left corner of the photo. If you don’t see this option, your photo is not compliant.
- Click Make 3D. It will take a few seconds, but then your photo will appear on the screen in all its 3D glory.
- Click Publish and voila, it’s in your news feed.
Posting one of these photos isn’t all that difficult, but it can be a lot of fun and make a regular photo more attractive.
If you don’t have portrait mode on your phone, you can still post a 3D photo. Instead of tapping Photo / Video, swipe up to access the full menu and scroll down until you see a 3D photo. After that, you should only see images that can be rendered in 3D. Select the photo you want to use and upload it.
