How To Level Up On Steam.
Steam is a great platform for finding and playing all of your favorite PC games. If you frequently visit your or someone else’s Steam profile, you may notice the “Level” section. The steam created this leveling system to bring the platform and the games you play together.
The process is quite simple: you earn experience by completing various tasks, the main one of which is creating badges, and once you gain enough experience, you level up. Of course, there are strategies you can follow to level up quickly. Here are the basics on how to level up on Steam.
The fastest way to earn XP: Crafting badges
When you start on Steam, all you need is 100 XP to get your first level. For each subsequent level, up to 10 100 XP will increase your level. From now on, you need 200 XP per level, and when you reach level 20, 300 XP, and so on.
The fastest way to earn XP is by creating badges. Badges are created by collecting collectible cards in your games, and by purchasing or exchanging them. You can see all of your current badges and collectible cards by going to Account Name> Badges.
To do this, you first need a game that supports getting badges. You can find them in the Steam search using the Steam Trading Card modifier filter. After you buy and download one, the game will give you cards.
To create an icon for the first level of the game, you need a certain number of cards from the game. After you play the game and collect the maximum number of dropped cards, you will need to either buy the rest of the cards or exchange them for others. You can buy cards from the Marketplace.
A single card usually only costs a few cents, so it’s not that expensive to fill out a badge. And if you receive duplicates in the drop of cards, you can sell them to buy the ones you need on the Marketplace.
There are also boosters. They are given to you randomly and include three cards from a specific set of icons. To get them, you just need to make sure you use Steam at least once a week to stay within.
Upgrade your Badges
Each badge has the ability to level up on Steam several times, up to 5 times. Thus, in just one game, you can get 500 XP. You can see how this can quickly add up when creating icons for multiple games.
Each time you create a badge, you get three random items for that. You can then sell these items in the marketplace and use those funds to buy even more cards. Or, if you have an item that no one seems to want to buy, you have the option to turn it into gems. Gems can be accumulated and then used to buy boosters.
For more popular games, boosters usually cost around 1000 gems, so it may take a little time to collect enough gems for that. But if you have a lot of unnecessary, illiquid things, it’s worth it.
Craft Steam Sale Badges
Aside from the stunning game prices, Steam sales are exceptional for leveling up your account. This is because for all the badges you create during a Steam sale, you are given special trading cards that can also be turned into a badge.
These Steam Sale Badges can be upgraded an unlimited number of times, so it might be worth waiting until the next sale to actually start creating your regular badges. You can then put as many of them as possible on Steam Selling Trading Cards.
Taking advantage of this, you can significantly increase your level. And it’s the perfect time to buy more games to get even more icons to create.
Other ways to gain XP
There are several other ways to gain experience besides badge crafting, and it can be great at first to level up on Steam.
First of all, it is the Community Pillar icon. This is a badge that you can get by completing certain tasks on Steam, such as adding a friend, playing a game, or posting a screenshot. After completing several tasks, you will receive a level 1 badge for 100 experience, and you can upgrade it to level 2 for another 100 experience.
There are also Game Collector icons. This icon gives you XP every time you buy a certain number of games, hypothetically, until you buy all the games available on the Steam store. However, the more games you buy, the less experience you get each time, but that’s good for the first few games you buy.
You can also get XP simply by having a Steam account for a certain amount of time. This is your Years of Service badge. Every year that you have an account, you will earn 50 XP.
Level Up Bonuses
What then is the incentive to level up on Steam? Well, in fact, every level you get is paying off.
Every time you level up, you get five additional friend slots. Thus, with each level, you will be able to add new friends to your account. At levels 10, 20, 30, and 40, you get a + 20% chance of getting boosters, which makes it even easier for you to move up the career ladder.
So if you are feeling a little exhausted from all of your Steam games, you can always take your mind off the game and instead level up your Steam account and get some nice perks in the process.
