Leave group SMS / MMS chats on iPhone
If you no longer want to receive group chat messages, you can leave the group in a few quick steps.

- Tap the group chat you want to leave, then tap the group icons at the top.
- Then click the Info button.
- Click Leave Conversation.
Note. You can only leave a group chat if everyone is using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and there are at least three other people in the conversation (besides you).
How to mute Group Chat on iPhone
If the option to leave chat is not available, it could mean that one or more of the group members are not using an Apple device or have not turned on iMessage. In this case, you can turn off the group chat so that you do not receive notifications.
- Tap the group chat message, then tap the group icons at the top.
- Then click the Info button.
- Scroll down and enable the Hide Warnings option.
- You can also swipe left in a group chat and hit Alerts.
- When Hide Alerts is enabled, you will see a crescent-shaped icon next to the conversation.
Note. The Hide Alerts feature does not stop receiving notifications for all messages on your device. If you want to turn on the sound in a group chat, just turn off the “Hide alerts” switch and you will receive notifications again.

Leaving a group chat in iMessage is a fairly straightforward process. Just follow the instructions below.
- Click on the small arrow next to the group icon.
- Then click the Info button.
- Click End Conversation in the Info menu.

You can log out of the WhatsApp group chat if you no longer want to participate in it. When you leave the group, you will no longer receive notifications and will not be able to send messages. However, you can still view your chat history.
- Move the group name to the left, select the menu (three dots) in the upper right corner and click More.
