How to Installing the Zoom for Outlook add-in.
The online meeting is not running. If you’re not using Microsoft Teams, you probably use Zoom for meeting scheduling and video conferencing. Creating new appointments in the Zoom web portal is pretty easy to set up. But your day is probably still managed by Microsoft Outlook and its calendar.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could create a meeting invitation with all the details inside Outlook? Well you can. There is an Outlook add-in for Zoom that can be added to both web and desktop versions of Outlook.
Install Zoom Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Desktop
To install Zoom for Outlook, you must use a Microsoft email such as @live.com, @outlook.com, or even @hotmail.com, or a work or school email account that is part of Microsoft 365 services. Zoom works with Outlook 2016, 2019 and Office 365 on both Mac and Windows.
Open the Outlook desktop client, go to the Home tab and select Get Add-Ins.
A window will open where you can find add-ons and connectors. Find Zoom and select Zoom for Outlook.
The Zoom Add-in for Outlook page opens. Click the “Add” button.
In a few seconds, the Zoom add-in will be installed. This can be seen from the blue circle with a white check next to the word “Added”. Close the window.
Back in Outlook, you might expect to see the Zoom add-on with the “Get Add-ons” button, but that won’t happen. To see it, open your Outlook calendar and create a new appointment or event. On the Event tab, you will see Add Zoom Meeting and Settings buttons.
Do you use Zoom at work or school? You can start adding Zoom meetings right away. Zoom will sign in using your organization’s single sign-on or SSO policies. If not, check SSO is not working? See the section below for reference.
If you are using Outlook with a personal Microsoft account, you must be signed in to your Zoom account. Select “Settings” and the login window will appear. Be sure to check the “Stay signed in” box so that you don’t have to sign in every time you open Outlook and want to add a Zoom meeting.
You may not have an account associated with Microsoft or a Zoom account. Select “Register” to receive it.
If your Zoom account is registered with a Gmail account, select Google. You will need to sign in to Google to join Zoom using Outlook.
SSO Not Working?
If you see an “Unable to sign in to Outlook” error message on your first Zoom meeting, try the following before contacting your organization’s support team.
For government organizations, you need to change your settings from Zoom.us to Zoomgov.com. Zoom.us is used for private businesses and schools. To change it, select Zoom.us and Zoomgov.com from the dropdown.
It’s not a problem? Scroll down and select SSO.
Try entering your company’s domain name in the domain.zoom.us field, then select Continue. The domain is most likely the same as the company’s website. If it is mycompany.com, enter the mycompany part. Or select I don’t know the company’s domain.
Enter your email address, then select Continue. The Zoom add-on will try to find your company’s domain and apply it.
Uninstall Zoom Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Desktop
If you want to uninstall the Zoom add-on, it’s easy to do so.
Open the Outlook desktop client, go to the Home tab and select Get Add-Ins.
A window will open where you can find add-ons and connectors. Find Zoom and select Zoom for Outlook.
The Zoom Add-in for Outlook page opens. Select Delete.
After a few seconds, the Zoom add-on will be removed. This can be seen from the blue “Add” button. Close the window.
Install Zoom Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Web
You may know Microsoft Outlook Web as Outlook 365 on the web or Outlook Web Access. Outlook Web Access (OWA) is the old Outlook for the web and the Zoom Outlook add-in is not suitable for it. However, it will work in the new Outlook Web App.
Open Outlook on the web and go to Calendar. Select “New Event”, then “More Options”.
At the far right end of the toolbar, select the down arrow (Ë…) and then the classic ribbon.
Select Get Add-ons from the toolbar.
Find Zoom and select Zoom for Outlook.
Click “Add” to start the installation.
It’s finished when you see the “Added” window. Close the window.
You will now see the Zoom add-in in the Outlook web toolbar.
Uninstall Zoom Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Web
This is almost identical to removing the Zoom add-on from the desktop app. Go back to your Outlook Calendar, select or start a new appointment and select “Get add-ins” as you would when installing them. Find and open Zoom for Outlook and select “Remove” to remove it.
Now You’re Zooming
With the Zoom Add-in for Microsoft Outlook, you can easily add Zoom meetings, check meeting details and settings, and add Zoom meetings to existing calendar events. It’s simple and Zoom just works.
