How to Install Chrome Browser on Android TV.
Android TV is a great OS for TVs, but I was a little disappointed when I realized that it didn’t have a decent browser preinstalled. I have found three ways to install the browser on my Android TV. Let’s see how.
Not every Android TV device allows you to install Chrome using the first two methods. Some devices are optimized for Chrome, but most simply don’t recognize the existence of the Chrome browser. The third method installs the Chrome browser on any Android TV device.
Install Chrome on Android TV using a computer
The Google Play Store is the official download store for all apps on Android TV. The Play Store can easily install apps on your Android TV. To do this, you need a computer.
Open a web browser on your computer and go to play.google.com. Make sure you’re signed in with the same account on your computer and Android TV. Find Chrome browser in the search bar and open the app page.
Click the “Install” button and the page will ask you to select the device on which you want to install the browser. Select your Android TV from the list to install the browser on your TV. This is how simple it is. The only limitation of this method is that it can only download apps that are optimized for your device. In my case, Google Chrome was not installed by this method.
Install Chrome Browser on Android TV using voice commands
Android TV comes with a voice command feature for easy navigation around the TV, mainly due to the lack of complex input devices such as a mouse and keyboard.
To install a web browser using voice commands, simply activate the Assistant and say “run or installâ€, then specify the name of the application.
The Play Store will open and you can install it from there. Confirm by pressing the “Install” button on the remote control. It should install the app and appear in the app drawer.
Install Chrome on Android TV using a flash drive
Now this method is a little more complicated, but it will allow you to install all kinds of browsers on your Android TV. Unlike the last two methods, sideloading apps gives you the ability to install all web browsers, virtually all apps that are not available by default. Whether these apps work or not is a completely different argument.
First, install ES File Explorer on your Android TV from the Play Store. You can simply go to the play store and install the app from there. Run the app from the box.
Now we need to download the APK for the web browser. You can use the APK Mirror or any other website to download the APK package of any web browser to your computer.
After downloading the APK file, copy the file to a USB flash drive and connect to Android TV. Open ES File Explorer, select your USB drive and browse to the file.
Click the Chrome APK with a controller and follow the instructions to install the APK on Android TV.
You may need to provide an exception for ES File Explorer and allow the app to be installed from unknown sources. This option is usually available in Settings. You can open the settings on Android TV and go to the Security & Restrictions section. You will find the “Unknown Sources” option. Allow apps to share so they can download apps.
When downloading apps on Android TV, app icons are not always displayed in the app drawer. When I tested these apps on different Android TVs, some devices didn’t show the app icon. To work around this problem, you can install another application that also allows you to see the icons of the downloaded applications. Install Sideload Launcher from the Play Store. The app is designed for Android TV, so you won’t have any problems.
After installing Sideload Launcher, open the app and you will see the Chrome browser sitting there, cute and smug. Select the app icon and open the downloaded Chrome browser.
Here you can customize your browser and even log in with your account to sync all bookmarks, history and saved passwords.
And this is how you can download any application to use it on your Android TV.
How to install Chrome Browser on Android TV
These were three easy ways to install the Chrome browser on your Android TV. The first method is more traditional and you can only download supported apps via the Play Store on Android TV. The second method is a little more convenient as you don’t have to manually go to the Play Store and search for an app, you can simply use your voice to install Chrome and other apps on your Android TV. The third way is when nothing helps. For example, I was unable to install the Chrome browser on the NVIDIA Shield TV because Chrome is not yet optimized for that device. However, sideloading techniques can bypass the limitations and install all applications regardless of optimization.
