How to Get Dark Mode on WhatsApp for Android.
Dark Mode in WhatsApp was first discovered on Android, and while several beta testers have been using the feature for some time now, WhatsApp has finally released dark mode to all Android and iOS users today. If you’re holding your breath with Dark Mode, here’s how you can enable Dark Mode on Android. Let’s start.
If you want to enable dark mode on iOS, you can enable it by following these steps.
Enable dark mode on Android
Dark Mode for WhatsApp Android has been released with the latest update 2.20.64 to be exact, and is available for all devices running Android 9 and up. Just update WhatsApp from the Play Store and you should see an option in settings. However, if you haven’t received the update yet, just wait a few hours as it may appear in the Play Store after a while. After updating, open the app, tap the kebab menu button (â‹®) in the upper right corner and select Settings.
In the chat settings, you will find a new “Subject” option. By clicking on a theme, you can choose between dark and light modes. That’s all you need to do to enable dark mode on your Android smartphone. However, if you have Android 10, you have the option to set one theme for it forever or obey your system settings.
Dark Mode is more advanced than the beta and looks great in the dark. However, this is not a true dark mode, but a combination of dark gray and cream to prevent eye strain. On iOS, however, it is mostly pure black.
I love that you can enable it from within WhatsApp itself.
However, if your Android smartphone has a system-wide dark mode (like Samsun One UI), you can also sync it with your smartphone’s system theme. This option will appear as “System Default” and selecting it will automatically turn on dark mode in WhatsApp and sync with your smartphone.
