What Is a Public Profile on Snapchat?
The traditional way to use Snapchat is to invite a few close friends and then share text and media content only with them.
However, social media platforms like Instagram give content creators the opportunity to connect with their fans, show off their creativity, and share content through tools like Snapchat’s Lens Studio.
The Snapchat public profile is a new feature that makes it easier for Snapchat users to find you. You can also share your public profile on other platforms, creating a place where people can see and connect with your Snapchat content.
The most important feature of a public account is the presence of a separate list of followers and friends. You can send content to your public followers while chatting with your friends. However, you do not receive notifications when new followers join, unlike Twitter.
A feature of the public profile header is to showcase content such as Lenses and Stories. You can put your unique content in the spotlight so other Snapchat users can recognize you from your work.
Eligibility Requirements for a Public Snapchat Profile
When Snapchat first announced public profiles, only verified creators could create public profiles. As testing of this initial group came to an end, the company opened up public profiles for all Snapchat users as long as they meet a few requirements:
Users must be at least 18 years old. Your account must be older than 24 hours.< /li>You must have at least one friend who has accepted your friend request. You must follow the community guidelines.
Sticking to Community Guidelines
Public profiles are for people who want to promote their content, such as the art of music.
The fastest way to lose your public profile is to break your community rules. The Snapchat Community Rules do not require extensive reading, so we encourage anyone considering creating a public profile to read them carefully and familiarize themselves with acceptable behavior on the platform. In general, Snapchat prohibits:
Explicit content.Harassment and bullying.Threats, violence, and harm.Fraud, deception, impersonation, and spreading false information.Any illegal content. li>Hate. speech.
In other words, be nice and clean.
Going Public vs. a Public Profile
In Snapchat’s settings, under “Who can” you can set sections like “Contact me” and “View my history” as “Everyone” which means anyone who knows your username can search for it and view it your content.
While this may sound like a public profile, it’s quite different. Let’s say you’ve set your Contacts settings to Everyone. Users still need to know your username, even if they don’t need to be your Snapchat friends. You will also not be able to access the special tools and features of the public profile.
While you can open up your Snapchat account and post your username where people can find it, this is a much less elegant solution. This means that you may have to add to your friend’s list people who are better suited to follow.
See me on Quick Add is different from a public profile. This means that people you may already know may see you in the quick add section.

Getting to Know Your Public Profile
Since a public profile is meant to be seen and showcased by your content and brand, it would be nice if you filled out your profile with all the required details.
By clicking on your Bitmoji and selecting “My Public Profile”, you can edit your profile and fill in the details that visitors will see when they find you.
At the top of the screen, you can upload a profile photo, which is separate from your Bitmoji and looks like a Facebook or Twitter profile photo.
Below your profile picture, you’ll see a “Profile Preview” button that lets you see how your public profile looks to other Snapchat users and highlights the subscribe button the way others will see it.
In the information section of your profile, you will find 150 characters for a brief description of what you do.
There is a section here to fill in your location information, but be mindful of your privacy.
The last option on this page is the public profile feature, allowing you to make your follower counter visible or invisible.
There are even more public profile options on your page. Just select the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen and you will see a settings page with two main sections.
Under Manage Public Profile, you can access the same Edit Profile page we just covered. In the “Save story on your profile” section, you can easily access your snaps or camera roll and create public stories.
The Share Profile section is of particular interest as it is the fastest and easiest way to share your profile URL on other platforms or in private messages.
Getting Help and Information
The second section in the profile settings is called Access Support. Here you can use the “Learn More” section to access frequently asked questions and submit a support ticket if you need it.
