If Apple Music keeps crashing whenever you try to open it, try force quitting the app before trying again.

Force-Restart iPhone or iPad

If the Apple Music crash is causing your iPhone or iPad to freeze, you should force restart your device instead. Use the correct button combination as shown below.

iPhone 8, iPhone X and later/iPad without a home button

Quickly press and release the volume up and volume down buttons one after the other. Then, immediately press and hold the Power button until your iPhone or iPad restarts and the Apple logo appears.

iPhone 7 Series only

Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time until your device restarts and displays the Apple logo.

iPhone 6 Series and older/iPad with Home button

Press and hold the Volume Down and Home buttons at the same time until your iPhone or iPad restarts and the Apple logo appears.

Check Apple Music Status

Apple Music crashes can also be caused by server side issues. If you also notice strange behavior across all of your devices (for example, with the Apple Music app on Android and Mac, or iTunes on Windows), you can view Apple’s system status page. If this indicates service related issues near Apple Music, please wait until Apple resolves them.

3. Click Sound Quality.

4. Turn off the switch next to Lossless Audio.

1. Open the Settings app and tap General.

2. Click Software Update.

3. Click Download and Install.

Disable & Re-enable Library Sync

Disabling and re-enabling the library sync feature in Apple Music is another fix that might help. However, this will delete all downloads on your device.

4. Open the Apple Music app.

5. Return to the “Settings > Music” page and turn on the switch next to “Sync Library”.

Reset Network Settings

If none of the fixes above worked, try resetting the network settings on your iPhone or iPad. This is the best way to fix connection issues causing Apple Music to crash.

1. Open the Settings app and tap General.

2. Scroll down and tap Transfer or reset iPhone.

3. Touch Reset.

4. Click Reset Network Settings.

After resetting the network settings, you need to reconnect to Wi-Fi manually. Cellular settings will be updated automatically. If it doesn’t, contact your wireless carrier.

Reset All Settings

The next fix involves resetting all settings on your iPhone or iPad. To do this, simply repeat the steps in the previous section, but select the Reset All Settings option instead.

In addition to network settings, the procedure also resets system settings (for example, those related to privacy and accessibility) to factory defaults. So don’t forget to reconfigure them later.

Sign Out & Back Into Apple Music

Signing out of Apple Music (and other services such as the App Store) and then signing back in can also fix crashes related to Apple Music.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Click on your Apple ID.

3. Click Media & Purchases.

4. Click Sign Out.

6. Sign in again with your Apple ID.

7. Try Apple Music again and check if the problem persists.

What Else Can You Do?

If Apple Music continues to crash, try these additional Apple Music-related fixes or contact Apple Support. Still out of luck? Consider switching to an alternative streaming service such as Spotify or Amazon Music until Apple resolves the issue in system software or a server-side update.
