How to Find Which Apps are Trending In Any Country.
Usually, to get a sense of what’s in app stores right now, I either read well-known websites or browse the app store trending page. However, the problem arises when you need to search for global data. For example, I’m in India, and if I need to check what’s in the Google Play Store now, I’ll have to change the location of my Google account. Tiring! I recently came across a website that allows you to check popular apps in every country and even app trends.
This is very useful if you are an application developer and want to understand market trends. It is also useful if you are a journalist covering technology and currently popular applications. It helps you evaluate the types of apps that are becoming popular in different countries and regions.
How to find the most popular apps in any country
Go to this internet-like tool and select your country. For example, I selected the United States as the country for which I want to see trending applications. Now click the Go button in the far right corner. You will see a list of applications that are currently popular in the Google Play Store.
The website also allows you to see popular apps in the Apple Play Store. In the first dropdown, you can select the store as “Apple App Store” and leave the other options as default. Click the Start button and it will populate the popular apps in the Apple Store. In addition, you will also see an iPad / iPhone toggle just below the Go button.
Besides App Store and Country, there are a few more filters. You can filter apps by categories like fitness, music, performance, and more. What’s more, you also have control to browse popular paid apps.
In addition, the website also shows app trends. It is a separate tab with several sections. One of the sections shows apps that have become popular recently and are included in the top 100 list. In addition to this, there is a section that shows apps that have moved up and ranked higher in the top 100.
Another popular app research tool is AppBrain. In comparison, Similar Web does not show trends for an individual app, downloads, etc. On the other hand, AppBrain is an even more intensive website with app data. But, having said that if you write or develop applications, these 2 websites are a must-have bookmark in your browser.
