How to Find Songs or Audio Used in TikTok Videos.
TikTok videos are based on catchy tunes. After all, half of the videos wouldn’t be as funny if it wasn’t for the background sound. There is something alluring about watching a dog dance to a song. But on the other hand, it can be difficult to find out what song or sound it is.
This is important to know for several reasons. First, maybe you liked the song. Second, if you’re a TikTok creator, using trending or trending audio can help your video go viral instead of sticking around at the bottom of the playlist. So, if you need to find a song, here is a step by step guide.
Use Shazam
While Shazam can’t identify the entire sound, it’s great for identifying something based on a few seconds of a song. Shazam is a free app that iOS and Android users can download and can identify the song used in a TikTok video.
You can also search Shazam while using TikTok. Press and hold the Shazam button until “Auto Shazam On” appears, then switch to the TikTok app and play the video you want to identify. If the song is in your Shazam library, it will appear at the top of the screen. You can open it directly on Spotify, Apple Music or other audio platform.
Check the Bottom of the Screen
When watching a TikTok video, a small ticker at the bottom of the screen will tell you what song it is. If it’s a recorded audio clip or song, you’ll see it scroll with the song’s title. If the user adds something, it will say “Original Audio” or “Original Audio”.
Try Soundhound
Like Shazam, Soundhound excels at identifying specific pieces of audio. It’s not as popular as Shazam, but it’s a great alternative if Shazam can’t pinpoint the song. In fact, many users find that Soundhound is faster and more efficient at identifying songs than Shazam, but it lacks remixes and live recordings.
Use Musixmatch
Like Shazam and Soundhound, Musixmatch is another tool for finding sound bites. While it’s probably better to use the other two apps, in some (very) rare cases you can’t find a song in any of their databases, but it might be in Musixmatch. The service has a huge catalog of music lyrics, and you can only search for them.
Just enter a few lines of the song that you can remember. You may need to try different phrases, especially if several songs have exactly the same words. (In other words, “yes, yes, yes, baby” probably won’t work.)
Check Trending Sounds
One easy way to find a popular sound (especially a sound that isn’t a song) is to check out the popular sounds TikTok page.
Open the new video creation tool and click Add Sound. Browse popular songs under TikTok Viral. They are sorted into categories such as Unboxing and Vlog.
You can also enter a description of the sound in the search bar. For example, if it’s an audio clip of spoken words, type in the phrase you remember and see if it works. Keep in mind that TikTok will only show audio licensed for commercial use.
Check Hashtags
Sometimes TikTok users may use a voice-over instead of a song. However, if these voiceovers become popular enough, sometimes they can become part of the audio library, especially if they are often flashed.
In such cases, users can identify the sound with hashtags, especially if the original sound came from a well-known influencer.
Use the iOS Music Recognition Tool
Apple fans have the upper hand when it comes to identifying songs. iOS has a built-in music recognition tool, thanks to Apple’s acquisition of Shazam. You can enable this in the settings.
Open Settings > Control Center.
Scroll down and tap the plus sign next to Music Recognition.
If you don’t see this option, make sure you’re on the latest version of iOS. You also need to make sure you have downloaded Shazam on your iPhone.
To use this tool, you must open TikTok and find the video you want to identify. Then swipe down from the Control Center, tap the Shazam symbol and wait for the song to be identified.
Start Searching Your Favorite Songs
If you hear a popular song, it’s most likely a TikTok song. Or the audio clip “I’m a happy, happy dog”? Yes, this is the sound of TikTok. It’s the driving force behind social media, but it’s also a way to see how pop culture is being created in real time. So if a song appears in a TikTok video, it could soar to the top of the new music charts.
