If you want to assign a static IP address to your Smart TV or change DNS, you need a remote to navigate to network settings. However, if you’ve lost your remote or can’t find it now, don’t worry, it’s not the end of the world. I’ll show you some of the easiest ways to find the IP address of your Samsung Smart TV (or any streaming device) without a remote control. Let’s start.

How to Control a Windows PC using Remote Desktop for Mac

Find the IP address of your Samsung Smart TV

There are many ways to find the IP address of any device connected to your router, and you can do this on your computer, smartphone, or even your TV. The steps to determine the IP address will be similar to the steps listed below, so you should be able to replicate it to any Smart TV or streaming device.

1. On the computer

If you want to find out the IP address of your Samsung Smart TV on a Windows or Mac computer, Angry IP Scanner is a decent choice. In fact, we have a detailed tutorial on how to use Angry IP Scanner.

Step 1. Download and install the software on your computer and run the application.

Step 2: Angry IP Scanner will automatically detect the IP range, you just need to click the scan button to start detecting. Even if it isn’t, you can go from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.255.

Step 3. Your TV will appear in the list with the manufacturer’s name in the name.

If you have multiple Samsung phones or TVs in your home, the app can recognize multiple devices and you might get confused as to which TV’s IP address is. To filter your TV from the rest, simply right-click on the IP address, select Open, and perform a Ping test before and after turning on your TV. The ping command works like SONAR, that is, it sends data packets from your computer to your TV. Ideally, when the TV is OFF, you will not receive any ping responses. If you are still getting ping, it might not be your TV.

2. Smartphone.

Fing is another popular network tool that allows you to discover devices connected to your network. The app has a good reputation and is available for both Android and iOS, making it a good fit in this case.

Step 1: Install Fing on your Android or iOS smartphone from Play Store and App Store respectively.

Step 2: Connect your smartphone to the same network as the Smart TV and launch the app.

Then Step 3. Go to the Devices tab and click the Scan button in the upper right corner.

The app will start scanning the network and show your devices in the list. You will find your Samsung Smart TV here.

The app is now smart enough to recognize and differentiate between a smartphone and a TV, however, if in doubt, you can ping your TV simply by turning it off and then running the Ping test in the app. If you receive a ping response, then this is not your TV.

3. Router

Most routers these days will show you a list of all devices connected to the network, and you can check all connected devices in the router console.

Step 1. Go to the router login page in a web browser from your desktop or smartphone and enter your login information.

Step 2. Go to your connected devices and you will find your Samsung Smart TV. Each router has its own interface and discovery mode. In my case it was unable to get the name and showed the TV as “localhost”. This is why I do not recommend this method unless absolutely necessary. However, you can still try pinging the TV’s IP address while it is off to see if it pings back. If so, then this is probably not your TV.
