How to Find Out Who Hosts a Web Site (Web Hosting Company)

Posted on October 6, 2020 By blog_786 No Comments on How to Find Out Who Hosts a Web Site (Web Hosting Company)

Here’s a quick tip for anyone looking for an easy way to find out who is hosting a particular website. Trying to find out who is hosting the website can be frustrating if you are trying to navigate through the usual channels, searching the WHOIS database, etc. Often, you only get the company or person who registered the domain. name, but not the actual hosting company.

Who is this hosting? is a very simple web service whose sole purpose is to inform you of the company that hosts the website. I love this a lot because most other online website validation tools just don’t provide a clear and concise answer to this very simple question.

How to Find Out Who Hosts a Web Site (Web Hosting Company)

I stumbled upon this website because I was looking for the best hosting company, but first I wanted to find out which hosting companies are using some of the partner sites in my area like HowToGeek, Labnol.org, etc. I know these sites work flawlessly. and have millions of visitors every month, so if their servers can handle this traffic, I would be more inclined to go to one of these hosting companies.

As soon as you enter a domain name like labnol.org, you will immediately get a response:

DreamHost is actually the hosting company for the Digital Inspiration website. I tried this on a lot of sites and the results were correct every time. Also, very large sites like Google.com etc. won’t provide you with any useful information because they have their own IP ranges and their own servers. You will also see this for other companies like CNET, etc., because they manage all of their hosting.

In addition to websites like Google and Facebook, you may also come across small websites that use private registration or additional privacy settings at their hosting company. When the domain is private, the information is hidden from public view, and you will only see information about the company used to hide the registration, or nothing at all, as in the example below:

This site does a pretty good job because which sometimes you can tell the hosting company by looking at the nameservers, but here they are just using the domain name and not the hosting site name. Even if you click on the WHOIS link, everything will be registered privately.

If you try to find an IP address, you are better off. Once I did a WHOIS lookup for the IP address, I was able to identify the hosting company. You can also try another website like WebHostingHero Their site was able to provide me with the correct information.

That’s it! Overall, you really should run into very few problems when trying to determine the hosting company for a website. If you do, someone is really struggling to keep their server hidden from the public. If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Enjoy!
