How to fake gps location iphone.
iOS uses several technologies and data – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and cellular information – to determine your location. Unfortunately, your location can prevent you from using some iOS apps or accessing their functions.
We’ll show you how to simulate the location of your iPhone so you can bypass geo-restrictions and access geo-blocked content. You can also do this to trick your friends into believing that you are in a different country.
How To Fake Your Location on iPhone
It is not possible to initially change the iPhone location in iOS, so you will need the help of third-party apps. A virtual private network (VPN) can partially change the location of your iPhone, but excessive battery drain and high data consumption are two of the main disadvantages of VPN apps. In addition, VPNs will not spoof your iPhone’s location on dating sites and apps, passenger finder apps, geolocation-based games, etc.
The tools listed below offer a workaround that is less harmful to the health of your device. They can also spoof your device’s system-level location with the click of a button.
Note. The tools discussed below can also spoof GPS location on iPad. Before proceeding, we recommend that you back up your iPhone using Finder (on Mac) or iTunes (on Windows).
1. iTools (by ThinkSky)
Download the app installer from the developer’s website and run the installer as administrator. The installation file is less than 1 MB, but the installation wizard will download the files required for iTools to work properly. Once installed, iTools will also install certain drivers on your device (at least 100MB). So, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet before and after installing iTools.
Launch iTools and connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. You may need to unlock your iPhone for the app to detect your device. Go to the Toolbox tab and select Virtual Location.
Select developer mode. This will prompt iTools to download the developer disk image file you will need to simulate your location on your iPhone.
Pro tip: If at this point you get a “Error loading developer image” error, restarting your computer should fix the problem.
When iTools downloads the map in the virtual location window, select the location or enter city / address / country in the search bar. Select a location from the search results and click Go.
Then select Move here on the map to have your device assume a fictitious location.
You will see a notification page where iTools recommends changing your iPhone’s location once a minute. The app also warns against going to places more than 100 meters from the previous location. The goal is to prevent certain apps from detecting that you are faking your location.
Select Got it to continue.
Close the virtual location window and select “No” when asked to stop the simulation.
Your iPhone will now use a mock location even if you disconnect it from your computer. To use your real location, restart your iPhone or go back to the virtual location map and select Stop Simulation.
We managed to spoof the location of our test device (iPhone 12 Pro) using iTools several times without any problem. The app is free, but only for 24 hours. After that, you will be prompted to purchase a license.
ITools Premium License for 1 PC or Mac costs $ 30.95. You can also purchase individual licenses for multiple devices.
2. iMyFone AnyTo
This app has a free trial that lets you spoof your iPhone’s location unlimitedly. However, you will need to purchase a license (from $ 9.95) to use features such as point-to-point and multipoint more than once. These advanced features allow you to customize your route, change your driving speed, and set your iPhone to move between your fake location and your real location.
Connect iPhone to Mac or PC, select your device and click OK.
Enter the fictitious location / address you want to simulate in the search box and select a region from the results.
Check the location and select “Move” to continue.
Before switching iPhone location, you will receive a warning to close apps based on geolocation. Close all applications that might be using your device’s location data and select Move to continue.
Click the right arrow icon and confirm your current location in the Change Your Location sidebar.
Your iPhone will use the new virtual location even if you disconnect it from your computer.
Close AnyTo and select “Sign Out Directly” to use the fake location. Otherwise, select “Restart Device” to return to your actual location. This will restart your iPhone.
3. Dr.Fone Virtual Location Changer
Dr.Fone Virtual Location is available for both Windows and macOS computers. New users can use the application for free for 2 hours, after which you will need to pay a subscription fee (from $ 6 per month) to remove all restrictions. We ran into some difficulty setting up the app on our Windows PC (possibly because the app is not yet optimized for Windows 11), but the macOS version worked just fine.
Unlock iPhone, connect it to Mac with USB cable and launch Dr.Fone Virtual Location app.1 – Select Get Started.
2 – Select your iPhone and click Next to continue.
3 – Select a location on the map or enter a location / address in the search box. Select a location from the search suggestions to continue.
You can also select a location directly on the map. To continue, select “Move Here” in the pop-up window.
This will immediately change the location of your iPhone to the virtual location set in the Dr.Fone Virtual Location app. Your device’s time and time zone will also change to reflect the new location. See the next section for other ways to check your iPhone’s location.
How To Check Your iPhone’s Location
After using any of these tools, you should check your iPhone’s new location. This will help confirm if they really spoofed your iPhone’s location or not. You can check the location of your iPhone in the iOS settings menu, in the Find Mine app, or via Apple Maps.
1. Check iPhone location in settings menu
When you change your location to a new country or region, your iPhone immediately adopts the date and time zone for the new location. Check your iPhone’s lock screen or status area to see if your device’s time reflects a fictitious location.
Alternatively, open the Settings app and go to General> Date & Time. The fake location should appear in the Time Zone line.
2. Check iPhone location using Find Me
Launch the Find My app, select your iPhone under Devices and you will see the location of your iPhone under the device name.
3. Check iPhone location on Apple Maps
Open Apple Maps, tap the blue circle / dot on the map, and check your location / address information in the Details section.
Limitations of Faking Your iPhone Location
Some gaming apps and websites condemn changing the location of your device. This is contrary to their terms of use. Using a fake location may result in your account being blocked or restricted from such applications or websites. It is also important to note that it is illegal to change the location of another person’s device without their consent.
Finally, please note that spoofing your iPhone’s GPS location will not change the country of your iTunes or Apple ID. This is a completely different ball game. For more information, read our guide to changing your country on the App Store.
