Eye fatigue is common among people who sit in front of screens for many hours every day. If you are one of these people, you will be aware of pain and that it is harmful to your eye health in the long term.
While you certainly don’t want to quit your job just because it requires you to spend hours behind the screen, there are a few things you can do to relieve stress. One of them is to use dark mode in your applications.
Who turned off the lights?
Many of the apps released these days have a dark mode, so you can easily use them for long hours.
Google has also added a dark mode feature to many of its Android and iPhone apps. If you use these apps on a daily basis, you can turn on dark mode and minimize eye strain.
Turn on dark mode in Google Calculator
Google Calculator is one of the apps that supports dark mode and it’s pretty easy to turn it on.
Launch the app on your device, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, select “Choose a theme”, click on “Dark” and finally click on “OK”.
This will enable dark mode in the app for you.
Turn on dark mode in Google Calendar
If you’re using a large G calendar for appointments and scheduling, you can turn on dark mode so that the large white interface stretches across the entire screen turns into a more readable black interface.
To do this, open the application, click on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner, select “Settings”, click “General”, select “Theme” and select “Dark”. Your calendar should now be dark.

While most phones come with their own version of the watch app, there are users who prefer Google’s version to any other.
If you are one of those users, here’s how to turn this app dark.
Launch the Clock app, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, select Settings and turn on night mode.
You will immediately see how the application turns into a dark application.

Again, you may already have your device manufacturer’s contacts app pre-installed on your device, but there are users who prefer the Google app.
Here’s how to turn on dark mode in an app on your device.
Open the app, click on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner, select “Settings”, click “Choose a theme” and choose a dark theme.
The app will go dark soon after you select the dark theme option.
Turn on dark mode in Google Fit
If you’re a fitness fanatic and love recording your exercises, chances are you are using the Google Fit app on your device. If so, your favorite app now has a dark mode that you can turn on and use.
To enable it, open the app, tap Profile at the bottom, tap the settings icon in the upper right corner, select Theme and then select Dark.

Google Keep has been my favorite note-taking app as it includes all the features I need and also syncs well across all my devices.
The new dark mode feature makes the app even more appealing to me, as the whole app looks cleaner and cleaner in this mode than in light mode.
To turn on the mode, open the app on your device, tap the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner, select Settings, and turn the Switch on dark theme to ON.

Google Maps sometimes turns grim, but doesn’t stay that way forever. However, enabling dark mode will fix this problem and keep the app dark for as long as you want.
Open the Maps app on your device, click on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner, select Settings, click on the Navigation Settings option, scroll down and select Night from the Color Scheme menu

Google messaging is slowly gaining in popularity and now many people use the app to send and receive text messages. If you are one of these users, here’s how to make your messages more comfortable to read.
Launch the Messages app on your device, tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select the Turn on dark mode option. The entire application interface will turn dark.
Turn on dark mode in Google News
Google News is also getting a dark mode feature, so your headlines and news articles are easy to read. It only takes a few quick taps to turn on the mode. Here’s how to do it.
Launch the News app on your device, tap your profile icon in the upper-right corner, select Settings, tap Dark Theme, and select Always.
The dark theme will now always be used in the application on your device.
Turn on dark mode in Google Play Games
Google Play Games also got a dark mode that darkens your entire experience.
To enable it, open the app, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, select “Settings” and turn on the “Use dark theme” option. Done.
Turn on dark mode in Google Snapseed
Google’s Snapseed photo editing app now has a dark mode to make it easier to work on photo editing for long hours.
The mode can be enabled by launching the app, clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner, selecting Settings and finally enabling the Dark Theme option.
Turn on dark mode on YouTube
Dark Mode provides excellent night time viewing on the YouTube app, and you should definitely turn it on on your device.
Open the YouTube app, click your profile icon in the upper right corner, select Settings, click General, and enable the Dark Theme option.
Turn on dark mode in Google Chrome
Google Chrome also has a dark mode option, but you can’t turn it on like you can with other Google apps on your device. Chrome requires you to enable the flag first and then it will add a dark mode option to the browser.
- Launch Chrome, type chrome: // flags in the address bar and press Enter.
- Find and enable the flag that says Android Chrome UI dark mode.
After enabling the flag, go to Chrome settings by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner and selecting Settings. Then click on “Themes” and select “Dark” as the theme.
Chrome will instantly turn black and you will see it on your device.
Turn on dark mode in Gboard
It looks like Google doesn’t want any of their apps to be left without a dark mode option. Now joining the list of dark mode apps is Gboard, which isn’t really an app, but a keyboard.
Open any app where you can enter text and Gboard will appear. Click on the settings icon to open Gboard settings. Select a theme from the settings screen, and then choose a dark theme from the list.
