How to Enable and Use Developer Mode on Discord.
Discord offers several features for both regular users and developers to try out. If you belong to the latter user group, you can create a Discord bot.
For developers, the app offers a mode called developer mode. If you want to create a Discord bot, this developer mode will provide you with the IDs you need to create a bot.
You can enable and use Discord Developer Mode on all supported Discord devices.
Enable Discord Developer Mode
It is very easy to activate Discord developer mode and you can do it in the Discord web client, desktop app, iOS and Android apps.
Enable Web / Desktop Discord Developer Mode
The steps to enable developer mode in Discord clients for desktop and web applications are pretty much the same.
- Launch Discord in a web browser or desktop app.
- Click the gear icon in the lower left corner.
- Select Advanced under Application Settings in the left sidebar.
- In the right pane, enable Developer Mode.
Discord will enable developer mode without any prompts.
Activate Discord Developer Mode on iOS
On Discord for iOS, you can enable the option to enable developer mode.
- Open the Discord app on your device. Make sure you are signed in to your account. Click on the hamburger menu in the upper left corner (three horizontal lines).
- When the application opens, click your profile icon in the lower right corner.
- Scroll down to the Application Settings section and click Appearance.
- Turn on Developer Mode on the next screen.
To disable developer mode, turn off the setting you enabled above.

Discord on Android offers a toggle to turn developer mode on and off.
- Launch Discord on your Android device.
Use Discord Developer Mode
One of the most common uses for Discord’s developer mode is to find unique IDs for servers, channels, users, and posts.
These IDs are usually needed by developers to integrate their bots with Discord. These IDs tell bots what elements to interact with when bots connect to Discord.
You can find these unique IDs on all supported Discord devices.

- Scroll down and click Copy ID.
A copied ID notification will appear. The ID is now available on your clipboard and you can paste it into a text editor such as MS Word or Notepad.

- Copied to clipboard message appears.
- Start Discord and access the channel for which you want to copy the id.
- Right-click a channel in the Administration section on the left. and select Copy ID.
- Access your Discord channel list on your device.
- Press and hold a channel and select Copy ID to copy the ID of that channel.
- If the user is in a channel, open that channel, right-click the user’s icon and select Copy ID.
- If the user is a friend of yours, select Friends, right-click the user and select Copy ID.
- A user if is in a channel, enter that channel, tap the user icon, tap the three dots menu and select Copy ID.
- If the user is on your friends list, tap the friends icon at the bottom, select the user, tap the three dots menu and select Copy ID.
- To get a user ID in a channel, tap that user in their channel, scroll down and tap Copy ID.
- If the user is on your friends list, open your friends list, tap the user, scroll down and select “Copy ID” at the bottom.
- Open the message thread that contains your message.
- Hover over the message and select the three-dot menu next to the message and select Copy ID.
- Open the message thread and find the message that requires an ID.
- Press and hold the message and select Copy ID.-
