Want to know how to download photos and videos from Twitter? It’s actually pretty simple. Read this guide to find out how.
We’ll split this guide into two sections – how to upload photos and how to upload videos to Twitter. Both require different methods, but you will find the whole process fairly straightforward nonetheless.
Please be aware that downloading this content does not entitle you to freely use the content you are downloading. You must still comply with applicable copyright laws.
How to download photos on Twitter
When you upload an image to Twitter, it is saved as a file, which is usually unreadable on your computer by default. These files are often large .jpg or .png files. Fortunately, this problem is very easy to fix. Below we will show you how to do this.
The guide below will work in both Chrome and Firefox. For the most part, the tutorial should be pretty straightforward for other browsers if you know how to save images.
How to load Twitter images in Chrome and Firefox:
- Click the image on Twitter.
- Right-click the image.
- Click Save Image As .
- Click the Save As Type box.
- Select all files.
- Name the image and add a .jpg to the end.
- Click Save.
That’s it for saving images in Chrome and Firefox. The above guide is for cases where the default image is .jpg-large. If it’s .png-large, add .png to the end instead.
How to download Twitter images from the Twitter app:
If you’re on the Twitter app, saving the image is much easier. Just click on the image itself to display it full screen. Then tap the three dots in the upper right corner, and then tap Save. The image will be saved in the Twitter folder on your phone.
How to download Twitter videos to desktop
When you try to use the same guide above to upload videos to Twitter, it doesn’t work. If you right-click the video and select Save As, it will ask you if you want to save the entire webpage instead.
For this reason, you need a third party downloader to download videos. Before we begin, please be aware that you should use such services with caution. Make sure you are not clicking on any advertisements or trying to click any links other than the provided download video.
These websites usually work seamlessly. A quick Google search will return the currently available Twitter video downloader. For example, we used DownloadTwittervideo.com. Once on the site, copy and paste the video link from Twitter. To get the full link, you need to click on the card to display it in full screen.
An example link will look like this – twitter.com/madebygoogle/status/1137751414116114434
Then you can paste this link into the video downloader website and click the Download button. After you click the download button, your browser will start downloading the .mp4 video file.
How to download videos from the Twitter app
To download a video from the Twitter app, you use the same approach as above, but you’ll need to get the link in a different way. Follow the instructions below to get the video link.
- Open Twitter on your phone.
- Find the video you want to download.
- Click on the video itself to display it in full screen mode.
- Click the Share button.
- Click Copy to Clipboard.
- Then go to your browser.
Now you can search for Twitter video downloader on Google and paste the link. By default, the video will be downloaded to your downloads folder. Also, here you have options to just send it directly through multiple apps.
Summary
That’s it – I hope this guide was helpful. Nothing more than this. Just remember, when uploading through the Twitter video downloader website, beware of ads and be sure to remember that the source of the video or image still owns it.
